Portland Basin Museum

Went with family as a nostalgic trip. Used to visit with my dad over 10 years ago. The place hasn't changed much at all, which I couldn't quite figure out if it was a good or bad thing. Was nice seeing everything I remember plus a couple new exhibits. They used to do canal boat rises which I'm guessing are only in the summer. The cafe was nice and good prices for a very large cappuccino too. Pleasant and free day out really. Can't ask for more.

Excellent venue and staff. 'Streets ' of shops and past memorabilia. Excellent for children of all ages and family visits. Free crafting sessions dress up area and narrow boat trips. Also range of sewing machines from the treddle onwards. Wish we had found this gem sooner!! Can't wait to go again..even without children ☺

Perfect rainy day out. Decided to visit here on a whim and glad we did! Lovely museum that is actually interesting and informative. Took our 18 month old who was interested in a lot of the displays, as well as the hands on activities and cute play area. Stopped for a quick coffee which was at the top end of lattes, delish! Will definitely come again in nicer weather as the outdoor seating area for the cafe looked lovely, overlooking the canal and barges.

Excellent museum. Plenty there to entertain the whole family. Especially suitable for young children. Only disappointment was the cafe wasn't open despite the website indicating that it was.

Great little museum. Friendly staff and a nice cafe. Remember to bring cash if going to the cafe as no card facilities.
