Finding this place on YouTube was one of the best things I did this week. Their inspired version of Philly cheese steak sandwich piqued my interest and I decided to try this place for lunch when I went to office that week. I can honestly say the place deserves all the love it is gets. The line of people gathering to order their lunch here does make one believe that this place is one of the best lunch spots in the St. Paul's Church /Barbican area. Anyways the line wasn't too long as I spent like 7 minutes and once I reached the counter a lady took my order down. When she heard that this is my first time at Porterford , she said I should try their Philly cheese steak baguette sandwich without any sauces so I can see how good it is. And she was right! The sandwich didn't need any sauces. The short rib cubes was cooked to perfection where the melted cheese is more than enough to help enjoy the sandwich. I was pleasantly full and satiated by the time I was done with the lunch. The best part is the price is very very reasonable, making this a place one can try regularly for lunch. Maybe next time I will try their meat boxes where I can choose up to 4 meats! I am now a fan of this place and I hope anyone who works in this area do give this place a try.
Great little butchers in heart of City of London. I have noticed long rows of people during lunch times and always wondered why. They do great sandwich selection. I tried the famous philly steak.. amazing.
Poor experience. Meat was expired before the expiration date. Emailed with photos to explain the issue. Told as I didn’t report before the expiry date then they wouldn’t refund or replace. Expiry date of Monday. Emailed on the Monday as no access to emails over the weekend. Poor customer service
I went there after lunch so didn’t get to experience the cooked foods, but I got some sirloins for dinner and it was a prime quality meal! Will definitely be back if I’m back to the area! Its not easy to get a great steak, even in steak houses these days, so I feel like a butcher that does nice steaks deserves a praise!
This place is legendary in the city. Best pre drinking food you can have. It’s a butchers so it serves mainly meat. But you can also get the odd potato. Great range of hot food to take away. From the Wagyu burgers to the sausage bacon and onion baguettes. The queue to get in anytime after mid day will be about twenty long but don’t let that put you off. It’s tasty and freshly cooked. The chicken is succulent and the spices are light and add flavour. I’ve been more times than I can count and I’ll probably go back a few times a month forever. .

There is a little line, when ordering I was greeted with a bad attitude and rushed to make my order with no time to decide. Ordered the famous philly cheese sandwich with brown sauce. The baguette they used was not fresh tasting or good by any Means, and to top it off the meat was bad tasting like a cheap cut of beef. Not really any cheese on it. Would not recommend.
They have a massive queue but it worth it. For a reasonable price you get a reasonable portion but it is fresh. And I mean Fresh fresh. The taste of the sausage, the lamb, the rasher are top and their burgers are good too. The Philadelphia beef and cheese baguette is the best tasting sandwich around. A bit chewy, but beef legs are delicious.
Used to come here whenever I was in the office pre-Covid. Yes, when people worked in offices and shared germs... Anyway. It was brilliant. I'd come in early, get breakfast there and then come back for lunch. Fantastic food, astonishingly good prices and proper British service - friendly but not obsequious look it up and kind of gruff. Covid happened, they started doing deliveries. Used them twice for barbecue party packs - again astonishingly good value and fantastic quality. Delighted they're still going strong and looking forward to a trip into London never thought I'd say that to remind my tastebuds.
