Went out for a family dinner had entre Caesar salad very salty and small portion would suggest maybe put 2 sizes because for 12$ it was extremely small portion. Had also entree of olives they were fantastic! Got also Calamari, sauce was good but calamari was very very chewy and tough. Main dishes were good overall. Also I know summer is here but fly traps might be a good idea considering they were everywhere and very annoying.
This place is always solid but never blows you away. We had the calamari, olives, bruschetta as appetizers. The bruschetta was a special and was excellent. For mains we had the veal Parmesan with salad and porcini pizza. The veal was delicious but the salad was just lettuce and was not great. The pizza was very flavourful and tasty. The atmosphere is ok, but it feels cramped and small. There is a patio if you have a nice evening.
I wish we had a better time as the atmosphere is great. 2 chicken Parm dishes were very under cooked. Chef didn't even come out until we complained, saying he was busy. When he did, he just escalated the situation. We used to love this place, but I will not go back.Food: 1/5
I went to Porcino's for the first time tonight with two other guests. The food was great! We started with several appetizers, the Caprese Salad, Arancini, Calamari and Three Spreads. The Caprese Salad was excellent. My fiance, who gets them often, said it was the best one he has ever had. The Arancini was crispy and delicious. There was one large ball, and I expected multiple balls because I am used to that from other Italian places, but it was large and had a great taste; 3 of us were all able to enjoy it together. The Calamari tasted fresh and was not overly deep-fried. It was of excellent quality and didn't remind me of an app deep-fried at a bar. The Three spreads came with House Made Tapanade Olive Purée, Hummus Chickpea Purée and Roasted Red Pepper-Goat Cheese Spread. The Tapenade and Roasted Red Pepper dip were fantastic, the hummus was not very good and tasted like low brand hummus from a grocery store, but it was the only disappointment of the night. The mains were veal parmesan, chicken parmesan and mushroom ravioli. All of them were awesome! The service was standard, nothing special, nothing bad. The environment is romantic and would make for a great date. The Christmas music in November wasn't for me, but I get people love it haha. The wine list is also great. Overall very good experience, and we will go back again!
Food was below average for the price. Skip the pasta and stick to the pizza for your orders. The food is pretty expensive for what you are getting. FailTV was on for the whole evening, with dimmed lights and music. Interesting atmosphere.Food: 2/5
Fantastic! Enjoyed the calamari and Caesar salad to start. Both were exceptional. I had a calamari at another local eatery recently and didn’t think I’d find calamari as good but I was wrong this was just as good. The Caesar salad was also top notch. The wild mushroom ravioli was perfection. The mushroom flavour was spot on and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauce was also great. Highly recommended.
Pasta choices were just great. Veal parmesian was tough, chewy, and lacked flavour as indicated by the 3 who ordered it at our table. Garden salad was only green leaves and dressing. Flies were plentiful and we were not offered a swatter to offer us at least the enjoyment of the fabulous blue modern wallpaper. Never again.Food: 1/5
We enjoyed a very good mid-week family meal at Porcino. They have a several different pizza and pasta dishes, including gluten-free options for the pasta. The only criticism I have, is that the pizzas were slightly undercooked, which was noticeable at the center of the pies, and my pizza the Eugenio had a topping not sure which one that was very salty. Another person in our party had the Porcino pizza, and it was delicious- there was no issue with saltiness, but it too could have used an extra ten seconds in the oven. Prices are in line with what you get. If you want an XL pizza for 4 people for $15, then you better go somewhere else. If you want a finely-crafted artisanal thin-crust pizza, without having to fly across the Atlantic Ocean to Italy, then Porcino is a very, very good choice.
Our go to place for pasta in town. While they don’t have a cocktail menu, you can ask the server to make you one based on your preferences: as shown in my first pic. Reservations are recommended because they almost always ask if we have one.
This is my husband's and my go to date night place as its in a perfect location as it's not in the downtown core and delicious food. We did have an issue tonight with my husbands main but the owner took it back and they had none of the option left so my husband had to pick something else. No biggy and we didn't have to pay for the one they screwed up or the one that he ended up having.. They handled the situation very well.
