Turkey and Tinsel, what a fun way to start off the Christmas festivities. 3 days of great food and lots of it, activities during the day and entertainment at night for not a huge outlay of your hard earned cash. Everybody getting into the Christmas spirit with jumpers and dresses and lots in between, depicting the festive period. Everything from Santa to reindeer and lots of sparkling outfits. Even in November!! You wouldn't think it was still several weeks until the big day arrives. You just get sucked right into the whole thing. Giving presents out on the Saturday morning over breakfast because it's Christmas Day. Then jumping the bus into town for a few hours of normality until you get back and dress up ready for you Christmas Dinner. Sunday evening is New Year's Eve, with lots of hats and party poppers ready to see in the New Year around 10:30. Plenty of singing and dancing from tea time until bedtime. Monday morning everyone leaves and goes back to reality until the big day really does arrive. So get on board and let your imagination take you on a journey of fun and laughter, good food, entertainment and what ever else takes your fancy.
Room was very basic but clean. Shower was good, small TV on wall. Towels were provided, tea and coffee sachets. Need to remember to bring either powdered milk or milk sachets. Bed was fine. Food was lovely, plenty of variety. Couldn't comment on the entertainment as we didn't go as it didn't start till 10pm, would have been better if it was on early evening. We won't be going again as its not our type of holiday but suits people who are on a budget or older generation.
The beds are uncomfortable, the chalets are full of dirty cobwebs, not very warm but stifling hot in food Hall. The entertainment on Friday was great, but very poor PA system on the Sat so could not understand the words they sang so nobody was really listening. The must boring bingo I've every encountered. Fair play to the chefs for providing fairly tasty food for so many people. Generally the guest are messy, dirty and care only about themselves. You get what you pay for £105 for 3 nights half board motown weekend. Cheap lodging to meet up with friends. Bar reasonable priced. Extremely rude reception staff. It's like an old/fat peoples home. Under 50 and a size 20 you'll feel young and slim!
Here until 2 January. Can't fault it for the price paid. Yes, rooms are a bit dated but clean. The Xmas eve entertainment was really great. Something to do all day long if you want it. Blue coats entertainment and quizzes etc.. All the staff work work so hard. Food is basic but generally OK. Some folk moaning about the queueing in the restaurant, but we make the queues so people should stop the moaning. Special thanks go to the teams behind the scenes. Well done to everyone . Credit where it's due.. Thanks Dave and Debbie
We have stayed at sand bay Holiday village 4 times now. It’s quite an old fashioned type of Holiday village, but fir some reason it has a lovely nostalgia feeling about itwe stayed recently fir my Birthday and we booked the four night half board stay. Turkey and Tinsel The chalet we stayed in was very clean and comfortable, we where very surprised at the little extras they had put in our room: including: A bottle of red wine: two bottles of water: Two bottles of orange juice: little packs of biscuits: little box of mint chocolate: And plenty of milk:sugar: coffee and tea the only thing we was a bit disappointed with was the long cues for breakfast and dinner, as by the time you have waited over half an hour at least! Some of the food had ran out, so we missed out on the three course dinner: But we will definitely go again in the very near future.
It's very basic room very small not comfortable beds at all you get kettle in room only few tea bags and coffee and sugar good job I took my own. Curtains had dust on them had a few spider web's spiders on the ceiling net curtains need washing windows dirty. Only good thing about the place was it had beach across the road which was beautiful to walk watch the sea coming in and out.
Enjoyed our 3 night Turkey and Tinsel break, upgraded to club and had bottle of wine, orange juice, water, chocs and complimentary daily newspaper on arrival, room was small but OK and clean, only drawback here for us was the pillows were too soft so on the 2nd night used a cushion from 1 of the chairs then slept fine. Food seemed good quality only let down was the queues, on the Saturday night queued for 40 mins to get our food and when we finally got to the front hardly anything left, however the desserts were lovely and breakfast had plenty of choice but again the queues were bad. Entertainment was good and if you want Christmas in November this is definitely for you. Overall good value for the price.
Don't do it! Room cold, heating only comes on for short periods at a time. Smiled at the lock on the bathroom-would be useful if you could shut the door! Nothing in the room to sit on apart from the bed. Cladding on the bathroom walls meant the condensation from even a shower meant the whole place was drenching wet. Can't imagine the room had seen a good clean since it was built. Even a basic dusting seemed out of the question. Miserable surly staff. On the plus side the food was pleasant enough-think school canteen and queuing. Not an experience I see myself repeating. Ever.
Lovely, great value weekends away, I have been year after year but this year it lost a star due to the mattress on my bed, so very uncomfortable. That aside the rest of the weekend was great. The site has been refurbished so all was new and clean. Staff working so hard to make everyone's weekend enjoyable. Short staffed but those there worked and worked.
We went to the Motown weekend for the first time. If you love the labour club type style, it's right up your street, have to say it's not for me. Very few staff who worked hard to offer people a £800 break for just £110, everything was very basic , food very basic but did the job although they really could do with a few more staff to make sure Buffett was topped up before it ran out instead of once everyone starts moaning that there are things missing, but well done to the hard working staff, Chalets are old and rotting but ours was clean, very basic, comfy, well heated and we'll served with hot water. Evening entertainment was good BUT you need to start getting a seat by 530 as those in the know are like the Germans with towels in a Spanish sunlounger, but if you like a drink, with live music , bingo and are prepared to get your pitch by 530 for a whole evenings entertainment at a super price, it's great, for me I did not want to sit all night rooted to the spot so came away a day early , but that's more about me than it is about the weekend. WELL DONE TO ALL THE HARD WORKING STAFF THAT WORKED HARD TO OFFER THIS BUDGET BREAK ON WHAT MUST IF BEEN A VERY TIGHT BUDGET FOR EACH DEPT
