This was a solid station for getting to and from Pontefract, with well-sized platforms for the trains and it is nice that a disused line is still visible next to platform 2. The station is clean and so are the seats that serve a proper purpose of waiting comfortably, similarly to how the bridge connects platform 2 to the exit on platform 1. A sign is displayed for this and there is a connections board outside, as well as a clear station sign and a map of the town. Some of the billboards in the station could do with a clean and the bridge has been damaged to the extent that repairs are due, also there should be staff when its the busiest one in Pontefract.
Decent train station with a ticket machine. Car park with CCTV covering every inch of it. I have heard of vandalism to cars when people park on the overflow road though so it would be nice to have CCTV covering the road too.
Not a BAD station, despite being a little tired and worn down. Disabled access is shambolic though, good luck if you're in a wheelchair.
Small station easy to get to
No disabled access and no ticket machine, which means that on busy days you have to queue at Leeds to buy a ticket merely for the privilege of being able to exit the station. Northern Rail should be ashamed of the customer experience they offer here.
