I visited PK's last night after a long time away. The menu promises that all the fish is cooked to order. It offers Medium and Large fish. I asked what size a small portion of fish was so that I could understand what the terms medium and large meant and was told that only medium was available, so I asked again what size small and large were and was told that only medium was available. I then asked why different sizes were offered but only one was in stock and I asked if stating something was medium was an attempt to con the customer into believing that what they were selling was larger than normal and the girl serving agreed with me that it was. I then bought three medium portions of cod and chips. They were ready immediately and were not cooked to order. When I got the portions home and opened the boxes, the fish was small and square and looked processed, the chips looked like they had been cooked the night before and if that fish was cod it must have been genetically modified before being caught.

Oh dear. This place used to cook a fantastic portion of fish and chips. Then a few months back Pete sold up and it changed hands. Since then we've eaten there three times (giving them ample chance to prove us wrong), but on each occasion we've been presented with anaemic looking chips and fish surrounded by what tastes like part cooked batter... and the 'large fish' is certainly not large! The batter has an overly 'spongy' texture and a strong raw flour flavour. Not good! Bring back Pete please! The girl working the counter is lovely and polite however...

Oh dear.....We used to love going to see Pete and getting great fish and chips, served with a smile and a friendly chat. My first visit a couple of weeks after the new management was promising - I had a chat with the owner and the food seemed to be of the same quality as before. However we went tonight and what a disaster, bad quality chips, tasteless fish and batter was still liquid inside. I must take some skill to manage to cook the fish through and yet have raw thick rubbery batter on the inside. So bad we took it back - and they couldnt have cared less...apparently the fact the fish had been 'probed' meant it was fine - the guy was even shown the runny batter but really was not interested - no apology, no offer of a refund. We will not be going there again

Great, chips are lovely and so are the nuggets. They are always firm and not soggy and delicious!

Very good food and lovely service. Chips could do with a little more crispiness - a couple of minutes more in the fryer please. Otherwise, excellent value for money.
