Easy access into Winchester with the P&R buses, gets busy after 8am during Uni term time and often difficult to get a bus as it fills up at the South P&R. Quiet area and secure parking.
The car park is rather small and a number of spaces are reserved for the school. As we were there in August, surely those signs could have been covered over as the spaces were empty - minus one star. There is poor signage for the way out, as in none - minus another star. You have to walk up to the main road to get the bus. It is a short ride into the city centre. Mondays to Fridays are slightly cheaper, i.e., £3, after 10.30. If you use RingGo, you don't need any coins and Winchester City Council kindly covers the RingGo convenience charge - Eastleigh and Test Valley take note!
So easy to park Cheaper than normal parking
Not much you say. It's only a smallish park and ride. We visited about 10.30 in the morning and there were still quite a number of spaces. A short path leads to the bus stop. Buses are every 10 to 15 mins. At £3.50and £3.00 after 10.30why would you want to drive into Winchester and pay for parking if you can find a space. All passengers on the bus are free.
Great value, you can park all day for less than £4 and ride the PR bus to town and back free for all the car's passengers. You'll need the Ringo app on your phone .
Really easy to get to and better than trying to park in town. Not long waiting for the bus and so easy to use although very popular at busy times so you might not always get a seat. They're closed on Sundays and bank holidays so when there are events on those days you can't use it which is a massive drawback. It's worth it if there's 2 or more of you considering how cheap that makes parking between you it was £3 per car when I went for the whole day. Bargain!
Best place to park good bus service
Still not quite fit for purpose as part of the Winchester park and ride service, I have found it is still a struggle to pick up everyone from this stop in the morning as there are too many passengers collected from South park and ride. The service users have outgrown the service at peak times... I have consistently found myself avoiding this car park all together and instead driving the extra mile or two to go park at the South Park and ride where I'm more likely to actually get on the bus and therefore get into work on time...
Great place to park although does fill.up as the local school can use it which is a great idea. Bus stop is on the main road/green shelter has a information board inside. Parking here is £3.50 all day
We arrived with 9 friends in two cars at about 10.00 am on a Thursday and were dismayed to find the car park full. Upon checking with a local resident it would appear that this car park is very often full up all day. It is much smaller than other park and ride sites.
