Took my family of 5 to the restaurant and was not disappointed. We were greeted by a very friendly member of staff and seated on a big table. Food was ordered and came out promptly, I had the American Cheese Burger and it was one of the best burgers I have had. My wife had a steak which was cooked to perfection while my daughter had the chicken strips. All the food tasted amazing. Will definitely be going back…
As Americans living in the UK, we were extremely excited to see this place open. The menu on their website listed some dishes, such as Chicken and Waffles, that are rare in the UK and we were looking forward to getting to experience some old favourites. When we arrived, we were promptly seated and handed menus. Where we noticed that the Chicken and Waffles, along with numerous other dishes listed on the website were not on the menu. I understand supply chain issues, but these weren’t even listed as unavailable. They just weren’t there. The menu was about half the size as was lifted online. I was extremely disappointed, but decided to try the chicken burger. We placed our order and waited….and waited…..and waited. After a long wait, a dish was brought to my wife, but it was the wrong dish. Nothing even close to what she ordered. Dishes were brought to myself and our eldest daughter, but the slaw listed on the menu was not on the plate. Just a big empty spot. The chips portion was beyond stingy. 14 chips was all I was served. We were still waiting for my wife’s and youngest daughter’s orders. My wife was served about 10 minutes later. 10 minutes after that, we flagged down a waitress to ask about our daughter’s kids meal which was £15!. They apparently hadn’t put in the order as they had no idea what we were talking about. We then waited another 10-15 minutes for her food. When the kids meal finally arrived, we went ahead and asked for the dessert that was supposed to come with it. When we’d ordered, we’d asked for chocolate cake, but by the time we asked for it to be brought out, we were told that it “came from the shop next door which is closed.” Mind you, we arrived for a 5:30 booking. It was close to 7 when we finally got our food. However, the restaurant was open until 10, so the fact that dessert was “locked away” before 7 was ridiculous. The only thing they were quick to bring us was the check. £74 for 4 dishes!: hot dogs, cheeseburger, chicken burger, and kids meal. No alcohol. My daughter got a root beer and my wife got an iced tea. No refills. I got tap water. The final indignity was when I was looking at the receipt later and noticed a 10% “optional” gratuity was already included in the total. To not pay it, I would have had to ask it to be taken off. £74 for food that was decent, but nothing special, with extremely tiny portions, and service that was atrocious. I’ve had better experiences at the local Wetherspoons.
Staff were nice, but the food was vile. Ordered the beef short ribs and Philly cheesesteak, both of which looked like some sort of bush tucker trial… The slow service, high cost, and revolting food had me convinced that Gordon Ramsay and his kitchen nightmare crew were going to make an appearance at any moment! Avoid like the plague you might find it in their kitchen…
We had lovely time at this quirky diner, the decor is fun and the food was really good - we used their Mon - Thurs deal for starter and main. The staff was friendly and on point. We had Oreo and Biscoff milkashakes which were amazing for their price. We will definitely come back!
Amazing concept, great delicious food and the most attentive service that I have experienced at any restaurant. This about sums it up for me. This is a great & welcome addition to Cranleigh. We visited last night Monday night. It was their first day after their busy weekend. We wanted to wait a couple of days until after the initial rush of people excited to try it out. They were quite busy for a Monday night and I saw the manager whom I later found out was actually the owner covering for the manageress who was off sick chatting with a couple of tables who had visited on the 1st or 2nd day. So clearly they are already having repeat customers which is always a great sign for a new restaurant. The table next to us was telling him how much they enjoyed the food, that they will be regularly coming back. I had the Chicken Fajitas it was perfect. The portion is huge and comes with a good amount of chips, coleslaw and a small side salad. Most other restaurants charge you extra for the coleslaw or salad. But here you get both for free with the dish. I've been to restaurants where you order a burger and it comes by itself on a plate with a side of chips. My friend had their burger, it came with 2 succulent Wagyu beef patties and it came with onion rings, salad and coleslaw. Again this was delicious. My other friend had the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. She said it was the best she's ever had. I can see some people have been complaining and moaning about the time it takes to get the food. Our starters buffalo wings, cheese nachos and Halloumi fries came within 12 minutes of us ordering them and they were all great. But we didn't have to to wait to start enjoying the food as when they give you the drinks, they bring out a sharing bowl of corn chips with delicious Salsa for you to enjoy while you wait for the food. And it's free. I think that's a great touch. In today's day and age, nobody gives you anything for free! Our mains came 15 minutes after we first got the starters which is good timing. I guess it would take longer for bigger tables which is understandable. The table next to us was a group of 7 adults and a little girl, with a really horrible lady. They got their drinks immediately after ordering and said they wanted to order the food after getting the drinks. Before even ordering, the lady asked the owner how long it would take for the food, he said it would be 25 to 30 minutes for the mains as it's a group of 8. The lady started complaining that this is not acceptable and that the child was hungry. It was shocking that the lady was complaining before she has even ordered! And the owner told her he would expedite the child meal before the adults. He said he'd rather be honest than lie and say 15 minutes when it would take longer. Another lady in the group said they would have to think about it and they were most likely going to leave without ordering and asked for a few minutes to discuss it. I could tell it was tense, but the owner was polite and told them it would be a shame for them to leave but if they decided to leave it would be fine. I couldn't believe what happened next. The owner went into the kitchen and came out 5 minutes later with a plate of chicken tenders, onions rings, chips and a salad and gave it to the mother of the little girl and said that he made it quickly for the little girl as she was hungry and that it was complimentary whether the group decides to stay for dinner or leave. He said he didn't want the little girl to leave hungry because he has daughters himself. The mother of the girl was appreciative and they eventually stayed for dinner. Honestly, I have not seen this level of service, and that in spite of the lady being extremely rude to the owner. He even brough a free slice of chocolate cake for the little girl. If I was in his shoes, i would just have let them leave!! Prices are not expensive as others have said and the value for money is much better than other places such as Richard Onslow. We would definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place.
Had a lovely beefy burger and delicious fries. I like the fact that I can actually get the burger in my mouth which you can't with a lot of burgers these days. They stack them so high. Not such a fan of the coleslaw but I like the fact you get salad and coleslaw with the meal not extra. Great service, a lovely large pot of green tea and good value.
Very, very poor. Service was appalling, the waitress took our order for 4 but turned up 20 mins later with 3 meals?????? Her response to my daughter was "I didn't think you wanted anything". Anyway it just went from bad to worse from there on in. The food was awful, everything except the salad had started out frozen. I guess that fact that it was empty on a Friday evening should have been the red flag. So, I guess it was our own fault. £89 for 4 burgers, 3 waters and a milk shake. Should have gone to MacDonald's in the food court, the service would have been better :- :-
Had a good meal here prior to visiting theatre. Service was OK. Food was fresh & tasty, and exactly what I expected to get from this sort of place. Would recommend the chicken strips. Not worth a special trip, but definitely adequate for pre-theatre or shopping trip.
Absolutely shocking, only one member of staff in the restaurant who was unable to keep up with the amount of customers not her fault . Food took 40 minutes to arrive, 2 burgers, so we didn’t have time to eat it, we were due at Woking theatre to see a show. Charged for tip, have tried to resolve this by calling & not had my calls returned. People’s orders didn’t arrive or were wrong- total chaos. Waitress was left near to tears by irate customers who hadn’t got their meals- got the wrong food & were also due at the show. We won’t be going back.
We had an amazing meal at ‘The Ol’ West’ yesterday evening! The atmosphere was great, but the food was even better. We were all served delicious hot food and had no issues. The staff were very attentive and we had a great experience. Would highly recommend!
