I have been attending Chris' classes for quite a few years now and they are still challenging and enjoyable as they were at the beginning. Chris is an extremely experienced teacher with an eye for detail and has definitely helped me to improve my core strength and walk taller.
I decided to join Chris’ school in 2015 and what a fantastic decision that was! My strength, posture, and fitness have hugely improved since starting. I have also gained invaluable anatomical knowledge about my body from Chris’ superb attentive and knowledgable teaching style, and this really allows you to understand the specific benefits of each exercise, and also how to perform them to the best of your ability. I hugely enjoy the classes, the supportive environment allows a moment of calm, and a space for dedicated application and concentration. Chris is a brilliant teacher with a huge wealth of experience, and follows the progress of each student, tailoring exercises to any injuries that a student may have. I could not recommend these classes highly enough!
Gliding like a racing sloop through the global pandemic, Christine Hocking, the PBA Founder/Owner, offered her students multiple classes per week via audio or Zoom. She mastered Zoom and audio connectivity and enabled her students to continue their Pilates training from anywhere. Enjoying multiple classes per week improved my fitness significantly. Chris was undeterred by gym openings, closings or limited gatherings. She found a way to structure multiple courses per week so no one went without. The Christmas period featured a twinkling tree nearby as Chris demonstrated how to perform the exercises. A silver lining was the visual and emotional connectivity that Chris fostered in her classes, with a chorus of hellos and goodbyes as we saw each other over Zoom. All were wreathed in smiles, as we were seeing people we had trained with for years and some for decades. Thanks to Chris' commitment to her students and the Pilates techniques, we benefited from striving for new levels of precision fitness in a positive and forward-looking atmosphere. My review from over three years ago: As a complete beginner in Ten Pilates Classes Pilates Body Awareness, I have been transformed from an unfit, lower back pain, healing broken foot woman to someone with strength and endurance, and a better body shape. The atmosphere is friendly and focused among students and the highly qualified teacher, a professional ballet dancer. I and several others, who also had injuries, have continued to a second term. On a weekly basis, I feel and look better and this keep me coming back for more.
Pilates is a fantastic concept and a real investment to our health. When we entered the lockdown and all facilities were closed, we all wondered how we can maintain our physical health while being stuck at home. Chris is a very knowledgeable and inspiring teacher and she restarted the classes on line almost immediately. What a relief that was! We started with the Audio classes and we then moved to Zoom sessions. The classes are well planned out and great attention is given to everyone in the class in the Zoom sessions. It is inspiring to see how passionate Chris is about what she does and how she really cares that her students learn to do the movements properly in order to get the desired results. I really appreciate her effort to keep our bodies ..and minds healthy during these challenging times!
Pilates Body Awareness - managed by Chris Hocking - is the best in Central London. The school run by Chris herself has many long standing students who have been with the school for many years because of the quality and value of her classes. She provides an in-depth anatomical explanation for every technique and makes sure students carry out the exercises correctly. Chris teaches the exercises really well, I absolutely enjoy them and have benefited a lot.
An exceptional teacher and an exceptional school. Chris Hocking's Pilates classes were already in a league of their own prior to Covid-19, but when the lockdown started, her school turned into a supportive community, lead by Chris' resilience, warmth, and true care for the health of her students. She started giving us classes on Whatssap then moved to Zoom, offering 3 to 4 classes per week for varying levels of experience, and covering fantastic training for all parts of the body. I'm forever grateful that throughout the pandemic, Pilates with Chris kept me and fellow students steady, healthy and happy.
Practice Pilates in this lovely venue is really awesome! Chris is a wonderful teacher. Since when I started 2 years ago I improved a lot. Pilates Body Awareness helped me to settle down my body after a few of injuries on my knee. It's unbelievable how now I am able to attend the level 3 class easily and just enjoy it.
I am so impressed with this Pilates class. I have taken various Pilates classes before but this one more than any other seems to really get to the essence of Pilates. Chris is an excellent teacher. The work is very focused and gives me enough information to work on my own outside of the class. I can feel my body learning better alignment and getting stronger.
I have enjoyed attending Pilates Body Awareness classes PBA, with Chris Hocking for many years, in a studio setting. When Lockdown happened, PBA switched to Zoom and Chris grappled with the technology to provide many excellent classes each week. Chris gives very precise instructions and clear information about why we're doing an exercise in a particular way and has extensive anatomical knowledge. Her attention to detail and dedication to give the best possible class in difficult circumstances during the pandemic has been an inspiration.
Christine is a very thorough teacher, exceptionally professional, knowledgeable and making you at ease with all the different workouts given every week. If you want to experience the real Pilates method this is the right place. Although it is still early days I have already noticed some improvements in my core strength and tone. You will sweat, laugh and sweat even more but you will leave feeling taller.
