Depending on when you visit the market and what the weather is like, will change your veiw of it. Sometimes theres a real buzz about the place, very busy, lots of people, lots of stalls and will even find it hard to find a place to park. Other times while you get the rainy days there's hardly anyone there, which is a bit of a shame because you can sometimes still get a good deal or two, so it's pot luck on the day. Saying that, it's always nice to walk around, spotting a bargain, getting your fresh veg, having a brew with your home made cake, meeting the vendors and even buying your meat for your Sunday dinner. Not a huge market compared with others but on a busy day you can get up to a 100 vendors.
Free parking. Great parking area. Good footfall and range of different stalls. Friendly, helpful stallholders especially Martin the fishmonger. A great morning out. Some open stalls but some in enclosed areas if it starts to rain. A number of places to get a cup of tea, cake or sandwich.
Love Penkride Market, opens on Wednesday and Saturday. Our 1st stop is the Cafe for an English Breakfast with toast and tea. A good start for the day. Has a huge range of products at keen prices. We generally try to get there on Wednesday at about 8.00am when we go for plants, a very comprehensive range, good quality and price. It can get very busy from 9.00am. Plenty of parking but can fill up quite quickly. Great place for watches at the cheap end of the range and batteries fitted for £1 and £2. Great value. It is not quite so good in the winter with many stalls not operating but still worth a visit.
This is a lovely rural feeling location, almost below the arches of the mainline railway, but quite secluded feeling. I attended for the Retro Cars Show rather than a market day, but the location was really well suited to the purpose it was being used for. I'm sure it's equally bustling on a market day. The site is easy to find, and parking is plentiful
Penkridge Market is so lovely. Lovely range of meat, vegetables and cooked pies etc. wonderful book stand, watches, hosiery and other lovely goodies. Nice cafe on site. I also love looking round the Telford Farm Machinery store next door.
As always the level of choice and quality of produce between the stalls is superior. The Service is excellent The Stallholders charming and helpful. However the number of stalls, levels of visitors and traders appears to be reduced. This may be due to the weather and will hopefull return to irs usual vibrant, busy self as the summer advances. I visit most weeks. They have many stalls and large variety of goods. Also a lovely cafe where you can sit down to a meal or just a drink if needed.
Great market, plenty of stalls, plenty of parking . Look forward to going back
This is a busy market with a mix of indoor and outdoor stalls. There are some bargains to be had, and some nice food too in places. There's an on-site cafe, but it's a bit on the small side. This is a particularly good place to pick up plants for the garden in spring and summer. There are Bank Holiday markets here but these can get very busy, though there's a good atmosphere. There is lots of free parking including an overflow field so even on busy days you can park, though there can be queues to get into the site. The market is dog friendly. We rarely leave empty-handed!
Can’t believe we have lived here for 9 years and only just found this little gem! A proper market, the way they used to be. Everything you need, lots of things that you don’t need but want anyway. Hand made stalls, locally produced foods, veg, plants, tools, clothes, pet shops and scratchings! It’s open every Wednesday and Saturday and so worth visiting. Loads of free parking and toilets!
