The oil at this fish and chip shop clearly hasn't been changed for a LONG time. As the photos show the chips were brown and limp. The fish was a poor excuse of a piece of battered fish and the battered sausage was barely battered. The overall quality of the meal was extremely poor, the only edible part of the meal was the mushy peas... Barely. Most of the items on the menu including all sizes of Haddock and large cod were out of stock as well as other items. This is strange for 18:30 on a Friday evening. I won't be visiting again and drove home to eat the meal so couldn't just go back for a refund or to complain.
Just visited at 19:40 tonight, the sign outside and times online state open till 20:00 . When we arrived were advised they had stopped serving at 19:30. If you advertise 20:00 serve till then or don't bother opeming its not that they were quite about 4 people where still waiting on there orders. Having a small shop/business like this in a market town like Malton relays on there good customer service but tonight this failed. Having been coming to this Fish shop for many years I feel very let down by this attitude and if this attitude does not change I can not see a business like this lasting in a small rural community. Please think carefully before visiting this fish shop untill the owners are willing to change the information available to customers and advertise the correct information or open till the stated times.
I have known this shop for the past 3 years, Carlos, the boss, is a very nice man. He treats his customers like family. And he always likes to serve fresh food to all people. He never compromises in the quality of food. Whenever I go to Malton, I like to go to him, his nature is very nice. And its staff is also very friendly.
Little Gem in Malton good value for money fish and chips spot on, will be going again when travelling up to Filey.
Food was lovely. We arrived upon opening so our food was lovely and fresh! Very good prices. We were just passing on our way back to York. Parking: Small carpark out front. Perfect if you're taking away
Wow! Delicious fish and chips!! The best we’ve ever had and four empty boxes to prove it!! The small fish and chips are an excellent portion size and the staff were really accommodating. All cooked fresh. We found this place via a search on Google maps after a trip to Flamingo Land and it was the perfect end to a great day! Thank you!
Great service and food. Always come here if we fancy fish /sausage and chips. Parking: About 4 right outside but plenty down the street.

This is easily the best fish and chips in town if not anywhere. I always drive from down norton to get them but its always worth it. Never had a bad one. I get them in boxes to make sure they are still extra special when i get home. Just want to thank Carlos and the team for alway providing great service and amazing freshly cooked food.
Just been here for dinner, got a small fish and chips special, both items where burnt, ate the fish but chips where too bad to eat ended up in the bin
