Very friendly and accommodating staff. Service is prompt and professional. Food is well cooked and well presented.
Party of 26 for Christmas lunch menu today. 12.30 for 1.00pm.Starter of soup. Soup was warm but not piping hot. Steak was good done to my liking. However I asked for it with a salad and not chips etc as per menu. There was only a salad garnish amount of leaves etc.Would have expected a full salad. Christmas pudding dessert ------ good portion size and nice pud. However not enough sauce to do it justice. We had to wait a long time between courses and main meals didn't arrive until about 2.15. My opinion is that the meal is overpriced. One member of the group had to leave at 2.45 as he had an appointment at 3pm so had to take his dessert home . The service wasn't good. Apparently they only had one chef and there were only 2 ladies serving. Surely more staff should have been brought in when they knew there were 26 due in!! We eventually left the Peacock at 3.45 ish. Not good when the meal was booked for 1pm. I would hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone.
Ate here yesterday evening. The pub has a warm & inviting atmosphere. The food here was lovely. I enjoyed all three courses. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Lucy our server was excellent & we will definitely go back again.
OK bar. Kitchen closed when I arrived at nearby Premier Inn. Closed apparently on Monday and Tuesday. But they did let me order a takeout and eat it in the bar whilst enjoying a pint.
Quiet location, friendly staff. Food was of a good standard, not that much of a variety as it was a Sunday we visited and roasts were the chosen meals! Great for a family get-together and there's a hotel to stay in should a beverage or three be needed!
Visited with friends on the 28th December. Wasn’t very busy but the food was shocking. We waited over an hour for food then when it came the first two meals were cold and not serve red up as it said on the menu. missing various food items . Waited another 1/2 hour for the last meal to come out, again that was missing food , and was just warm. Really disappointed with the food, expected more for the price of what we paid. Didn’t have anyone come over and ask if everything was ok, my friend actually left her meal in the end. Very disappointed, shouldn’t happen on a quiet day! The manager on duty was lovely and very understanding. We won’t be visiting again
Booking on the phone option is not working as it says its all booked up however, it was empty. We had to book through the website. Arrived on time and ordered drinks then waited for over an hour and a half for the meal which did not arrive,as we had a baby with us we had to arrange to eat elsewhere. It really messed our Saturday up. We did not have to pay for our drinks due to the poor service received. Other guests were unhappy as their food was cold as there was only one chef that day. We normally like the place as it's local and nice but we won't be in a rush to return until this service improves.
fantastic meal food was good quality very good service and good value
Booked a table of 3 for Christmas Day dinner at 12:30pm. Was asked for drinks as usual, drinks ordered, 10 mins after drinks being brought to our table we were asked again if we would like more drinks, and were asked continuously almost every 10 mins for the next hour strangely. Eventually our starter came after about 30 mins which was satisfactory. We then waited…..and waited…….and waited for our main dinner to be served which never came as other tables around us who arrived 30 mins or more after us were being served their main courses. Randomly after around 1 hour after our starter the manager leaned over a barrier and informed us that “it’s on its way” obviously realising we’d been waiting a considerably longer time. After it still not turning up We enquired again where our main courses were and why were other tables being served theirs before us. To which the waitress said she really doesn’t know..After more enquiries eventually, 1 hour 30 minutes after our starter, our main was finally served only to find all the vegetables were cold and rock hard, the only thing edible on the plate was the meat. Dessert seemed to arrive very sharpish after we complained how terrible the main was. The manageress was apologetic and said “ the wheel had fallen off when it had got to your table”. There was no real explanation for the slow service and the appalling food. We were offered a refund but less the amount for drinks . Very dissatisfied with the meal and the service which ruined Christmas Day . A refund doesn’t compensate a special occasion . Will NOT be eating here again .
Absolutely dreadful experience. Walked in and the waitress manager? barked “half an hour for food” at us and the bartender before we could even open our mouths. Then proceeded to reel off a list of menu items they didn’t have, before reiterating that it would be 30 mins before they could even take our order. When we did order, the waitress came back out after ten minutes or so to tell us one of the items we ordered was out of stock. Food was mediocre when it did arrive, around an hour or so after we sat down. The bartender was friendly and explained it was a bad day. However, the waitress/manager was unnecessarily hostile, given we were simply a pair of paying customers looking for a meal at a pub that purports to sell food.
