Totally loving Partick Library. I have been coming here every day for the last 4 weeks. It's a brilliant place to write my books. There is a large study space, including two study booths, which are great. There is also Free WiFi, although this is rather slow when it gets busy. There is a dedicated children's library, with lots of kids events during the week. Free tea and coffee to, which is great. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. Love the library and think this is a great community hub.
I love the place, there are thousands of books you can select from. You can come and find this place to be a very quite and classic
Thanks to a Review on here by Michelle Laherty, if I remember correctly throughout the summer I managed to score some really amazing gear from Barry on Uist Street, Govan. So thanks there Michelle. Nice one. Joking aside, and let's be honest her Review is well worth laughing at, Partick Library is a typical small library and like all small libraries the staff often get irritable the council's Health & Safety mandated temperature makes small libraries incredibly stuffy, and then there's the boredom. Those aren't excuses. They are just realities. Those staff members are paid to serve us and should do so but as with any job serving the public, there are always pluses and minuses.
A welcoming building. Friendly staff. Nice area upstairs to use PCs.
"Face masks must continue to be worn while sitting at a table" So says the sign on every table. That didn't seem to bother the staff's notice that strolled past the two young women having a noisy picnic at one table while scrolling Insta videos on full volume, the two maskless Jakey's discussing a score with Barry from Uist Street in Govan, or the painter/decorator taking multiple calls on speaker phone that apparently requires shouting to be heard and has no qualms about sharing personal details to the general public. There was once a time when libraries were regarded as places to go for quiet study...
Nice place to study, plenty of plug sockets etc although uncomfortable chairs if working for long periods of time. Very inadequate toilet facilities. One disabled toilet in the Children's library which is inaccessible when there is a session on. Staff were friendly enough but not sure if i'd expect a library to recommend I go to a pub if i need the toilet, which was closed anyway.
Upon entry you are harassed by 2 Karen's who demand a name and number. To which the majority give fake ones. They use 1 single piece of paper per name thus contributing to environmental waste & deforestation there is a one way system which is overly complicated the room where the books are kept is part of this system so most people are squeezed into a corner whilst browsing for a book. The computers are based upstairs so if you are disabled or elderly you can't use them and if you somehow manage up those stairs you will notice a lack of computers which are not spaced out at all! 3 computers cramped onto a table forcing you to sit overly close to strangers! and on top of this the Karen's don't even know whether or not they are available so you may not be able to obtain one.
Staff have a horrible attitude, like some of the other reviews say. I would recommend going to Hillhead library, where staff are nice, knowledgeable and helpful.
Looks modern after the refurb, much brighter vibe than the Hillhead library. The staff are all very friendly and helpful too. Will definitely go again.
Queue to get in and only 37 people allowed in whole building at one time. Well organised with one way system. Staff usual helpful and friendly selves.
