Wow! I'm an American whose family is native to NYC and I was really really impressed by this place. Genuinely the first good kosher dill pickles I've had in London- the "new green" pickles are excellent if you're missing them. Not a bit of sugar to be found and a delicious garlicky vinegar taste. The bagels are quite good too! Definitely the best I've had in London. I was really impressed by the selection of American products - there were quite a few things I haven't seen elsewhere, including pimento cheese! it tastes just right. You don't see southern products here almost ever so I was delighted to see it! The shop had a ton of fun stuff from all over the world - Israel, Russia, the US, Mexico definitely leaning American-Mexican, Italy, Korea, Japan...huge variety. Also an amazing produce section with a huge selection of mushrooms, garnishes like shoots and flowers, and other exotic fruits and veggies not commonly seen elsewhere. Overall really great shop, I'll definitely be back!!
Having lived in New York for many years, I think their bagels are the closest it can get to them. Very nice bagel with excellent smoked salmon. Highly recommendedFood: 5/5
The venue exudes the charm of a New York bagel joint combined with a grocery store. I enjoyed a bagel with salmon and cream cheese, which was notably fresh. The shopping experience was also pleasant, as I found some delightful Ruffles chips and fresh pickles. While the service and ordering process initially seemed a bit confusing, I believe it’s a matter of familiarity. Some staff members were incredibly helpful, guiding me through the selection process, while others appeared less attentive. I suggest a slight tweak in the system for newcomers. Perhaps adopting a number-based service, like those found in New York bagel shops, could streamline the experience. Once accustomed to their way of service, I’m confident that the process is much smoother and the visit more enjoyable.
This is a St John’s Wood institution! Amazing selection of items especially American and kosher, great design and atmosphere, and friendly staff. During Covid I left London but I remember ordering the bagels and some other special products to be delivered and it felt like home! Just lose 1 star because the deli prepared sandwiches are expensive, in my experience you are able to buy multiple bagels and the fillings for the same as buying one filled bagel. Overall a great shop I am delighted to have in the neighbourhood.
It's a lovely deli and café but a little over priced.. Staff are very helpful and friendly. We had coffee and a spinach and ricotta bun which would have been tastier had it been heated.. There's a big array of fruits and vegetables that you may not find elsewhere as well as bagels, breads and salads etc.. Also, lots of the products were from Italy or Greece.
The best delicatessen in this part of London for sure. The highest quality of produce and wide range of fruit and vegetables they must have at least 15 different types of tomatoes here!. Great quality deli counter options and coffee with pastries served outside creating cozy community vibe.
Lovely deli. Everything was so fresh and produce looked great
A middle-aged bespectacled saleswoman has an unpleasant service attitude, which is sarcastic and discriminatory. The cherries I bought had already been weighed by one of her male colleagues, and she weighed them again, not knowing why the amount she weighed had increased, and not telling me why. Because her attitude made me uncomfortable, so I told her I didn't want the cherries. After I finished buying the order, she actually laughed at me in front of my face and whispered to her colleagues when I didn't leave. Elsewhere, there is a market in pimlico where the quality of vegetables and fruits they serve is top notch, even most of the same as this supermarket. The same thing is much cheaper in the market, and both the boss and the wife are very kind and honest. I look forward to shopping with her every week. I can understand that this supermarket has been open for nearly 80 years. They are a physical and fixed store, and their sales cost is higher, so I can accept that the goods are more expensive. However, some of the service staff they hired were obviously unable to keep up with the quality and literacy of this high-end supermarket, and lacked respect and integrity for customers.
The shop is being refurbished so it's been halved literally. I came for some chicken and just decided not to go for it: of the sad assortment that was there, £27.50 a kilo for chicken thighs? The usual price for these -even in a specialty shop- is £11.50/£12 per kilo. At this stage, it's a pure rip off. Not acceptable nor accepted so it's a goodbye.
Really nice bakery and food store. You can get a great breakfast or brunch. The store also sells food products from all over the world. The prices are very high, but the products are top quality.Food: 4/5
