About

Palnackie Village Shop Ltd is a small shop run by the community for the community.

Story

On 31st January 2013 the village shop was to close. Our local council, Buittle Community Council, entered into negotiations with Roy McCourt, the owner, and with the support of the village and money from the wind farm Robin Rigg, the shop re=opened on 13th January 2014 run by a manager, Todd McCourt, and a team of volunteers who were trained to work in the shop. This involved knowing how to operate the till, how to organise the newspapers in the morning, what to do a cash-up time before closing, checking stock and keeping the shop clean and tidy.
We are now into our second year of trading and at the moment are undergoing a major refurbishment. We secured a sum of money from the National Lottery and from Eon and are able to have the shop repainted, to have new flooring and LED lighting, to have a new freezer, fridge and shelving. The counter is to be re-positioned, and we will have a new, more secure, outside door as well as a fire door between the house and the shop. Watch this space!

Visited today. Very busy but fitted us in. Had their homemade sausage roll and salad. Absolutely delicious. Friendly and helpful staff too!
Amazing and wonderful - these people are ensuring my mum in law gets all the good food to keep her going - thank you so much! On a weekly basis she gets a good mix of groceries her choice that also includes fresh vegetables in the right season. AND they take it to her door....just fantastic and kind- maybe they don't have an alcohol permit Dave! Also - did you know it's volunteers that have kept it going ....get involved .....!!!
Well run little community shop & cafe. Unfortunately, only 4 stars as they miss a trick by not allowing dogs inside the café.....
Nice wee cafe with lovely staff and excellent soup and sausage rolls
Lovely café serving great food, coffee and cakes. Staff very friendly and helpful
Nice friendly staff and selection of essential groceries, but their opening hours could be more sociable, and they could stock a few cans of beer for emergencies. Also the black pudding sold there is really nice
Delicious food, great service, friendly ladies. Definitely recommend.
