Welcome to Palmers, an independent family-run department store offering home furnishings, specialising in the kitchen & bedroom.

Story

Palmers can trace its history back to 1837 when Garwood Burton Palmer and his brother opened a small drapery shop in Great Yarmouth marketplace. Over 175 years later, and that small shop is now a full-line department store. With four other branches across East Anglia and a successful online store we're one of the largest independent retail companies in the UK and employ over 400 staff.

Did you know? Palmers have traded through the reign of seven monarchs; worked under seven chairmen; acquired five stores; survived two major fires and bomb damage and consequently our Great Yarmouth store now boasts the title of longest established independent department store in the country!

Lovely to see a store like this place. Staff are very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Whenever we stay in Great Yarmouth we make a b-line to Palmers. Everything you need under one roof. Reasonable prices. Good store.

Good place to take a group. Expect a medium queue time on rides. Great rides. The app needs improvement/real time updates of ride queue time.

A great variety of different products for anything. Staff very helpful. Range of prices good quality. Assistance near the changing rooms staff willing to look and bring clothes to the changing room.

Good old-fashioned values in terms of customer care and quality but certainly no dinosaur of a store. The offering is that of a traditional  family owned department store but the layout, stock and ambience are certainly up-to-date and fresh. From ladies fashions and footwear and gents outfitters to kitchen utensils and household linens, lighting and soft furnishings, it's all here under one roof. For the fitter ones amongst us, located towards the back of the store is a staircase to the downstairs and upstairs sales floors and coffee shop/restaurant. Alternatively, take the lift which can be found at the front of the store. There are also two more staircases towards the front of the store which lead to the downstairs sales floor. The menswear department is located at the rear of the store down a small flight of stairs. This department has direct access to the car park and  customers who aren't able to manage stairs should acesss this department via the entrance from the car park.

Our one and only big department store. Good for just browsing and lovely for shopping for clothes and other goods.
