Took a group out for some DofE navigation work. The orienteering map for the park is very good and lets you teach the principles of navigation effectively in a relatively small area. We were based in one of the log cabins for the lectures and lessons and I liked these open and airy spaces. There is also a good small cafe in the visitor centre. It is good to know that this big open space is so close to the urban sprawl of Cumbernauld.

We had a great day with our 3 year old twin grandsons . Food in cafe was reasonably priced and did the job . Boys loved the walks in the woods and bonus, muddy puddles for jumping in .

Not the great wildlife park it used to be, café wasn't open when we visited, the visitor centre is useless and outside it's basically a petting zoo now. Won't be surprised if the council close it down soon

Not much going on off season but nice to walk around and decent playpark

Pros -free access. Facilities available . Cons- hardly any animals left
