Local, happy, friendly service. Excellent in-stock selection and always happy to order things in. I use One Tree Books for both my personal book shopping, and for ordering for school. The staff are knowledgeable, host book festivals and special events, and are thoughtful with book recommendations. There is even a book club. In fact, two: one for classic stories, and one for recent publications- something for everyone. When I was new to the area, it was (and still is) a lovely way to meet and chat with people who love to read, and have a great debate!

A wonderful bookshop: bright, cheerful, friendly, with polite and pleasant staff. I requested a book not in stock yesterday and received a text today to say that it had arrived! (I'm sure they would have had it in a chain bookshop, but I make a point of trying to support this excellent local independent one whenever I can.) The cafe in the shop is also superb, with interesting and original dishes (I recommend the Mumbai toastie) and both cafe and shop welcome well-behaved dogs, which is enlightened in my opinion. They also stock a lovely selection of cards to suit most tastes: this is always my first port of call for birthday and other special occasion cards and I also love the postcards, of which I have bought several to use in collages. Look upstairs for a great range of non-book items such as notecard sets, diaries, puzzles and coloured card. I recommend this bookshop without reservation.

Great food and coffee on offer at the cafe. We had the chicken liver pate and mackerel pate - both were excellent!

Good book selection, especially children's and a revamped cafe under new ownership. Attentive, knowledgeable service with useful reader reviews as Waterstones does.
