I am courteously giving 4 stars as our experience was-a blend of highs and lows. The starters and one of the mains were lovely. The steak proved challenging - it was unfortunately too tough to chew. We didn't receive the dessert menu despite our interest in something sweet, and there seemed to be a mix-up with pricing as we were charged à la carte instead of the Christmas menu rate. This left us quite disappointed, and we wouldn't be inclined to return.
We visited Oliver's last night to celebrate my birthday. Booked online easily. On arrival the staff were quick to seat us and incredibly friendly and helpful. They didn't rush us in making our choices whilst at the same time ensuring to check in regularly so we could order once everyone had decided what they wanted. Food was fantastic and so were the breads/olives selections. Great selection at a very fair price.nI don't drink alcohol but had a conversation with our lovely waitress where I had mentioned I was trying to perfect sourdough. When we were about to leave she came over with a little box of sourdough as a birthday gift they usually give a drink I was thrilled as the geek I am and thought it was incredibly thoughtful of them.nI've just toasted a couple of slices this morning and gorgeous!nThank you to all the staff for making our night such a lovely experience and to the chef - please teach me your sourdough skills! nWe will definitely be back!
I am sorry that my review might sound not very positive, but it is my opinion that there is a huge room for improvement. The restaurant is located in a lovely Ballyhackamore area. We booked dinner for 7:30 and arrived an hour early as there was an advert online that prior to dinner we could go to the next door in a special room for a few cocktails . That room does not exist, maybe will be open in the near future… maybe we were told. The weather was rainy and inside the terrace was quite cold and water was running on the tables. In 5-10 mins they turned the heaters on. There was not much attention from staff tho, we even moved the table away from water ourselves. Inside the restaurant the atmosphere is cozy, nice design , there was live music a bit too loud but very good musician. Food was nice. Prices are reasonable. Wine should be sold by glasses. We had to buy the whole bottle for the sake of one glass….Overall experience was good but it felt like there was a lack of management even the food was nice. Probably would not come back but will recommend this place to a friend , just to try. We all have good days and bad days and I have a feeling this place could be much better than we experienced.
Excellent from cocktails to desserts, 3 courses each of us, everything was delicious, staff welcoming pro and friendly, service super efficient we didn’t wait about for anything.nnStarted with a pineapple punch and carried on with a cosmonnThe soup of the day was great, the mushrooms toast was amazing and I’m not usually a big fan of mushrooms but if you are like me give it a go.nnGot the duck for the main and my partner got the chicken . The portion of fries on the side was salted and crispy nnFinished with an apple crumble for dessert and sticky toffee pudding for myself.nnHonestly I don’t even know how I ate all of each plate but everything was delicious and didn’t event felt heavy leaving the table. Well fed and happy tho nnNice indoor / outdoor space cozy and romantic with these wee patio guirlande lights and outdoor heating if chilly temperatures
Excellent food and service tonight, had the steak frites dish which was cooked perfectly. Brilliant service by Michael and will definitely return soon.
