I walked up the hill from the train station and cut through a housing estate and grassed area to get here, talk about being off the beaten track? All in all, an impressive building that's got a good atmosphere inside, and there's a small beer garden. The Butcombe Gold hit the spot without hitting my pocket.
We returned here after a long time and were met with huge disappointment. The quality of the food and portion sizes have worsened. My burger looked like a child's portion—I didn't even feel like I'd eaten anything. My wife ordered a curry and asked when placing the order if it came with poppadoms. She was told it did. It arrived without poppadoms, with no coriander, etc. The lady serving us was unpleasant, as if she was working there as punishment. She said there would be no poppadoms because the dish didn’t come with them. When we mentioned that we had been told it would, she just grumbled rudely. We never got the poppadoms, of course. The place has an unpleasant smell as you enter. If you're a typical cheap simpleton who wears tracksuits even on a Sunday, this dive will be perfect for you.

Went to the old unicorn today 18.11.24 it was the worst food we have ever been served I ordered fish and chips I was served with a curled up piece of soggy batter couldn't even see any fish the chips were dried up and cold as was the peas my wife ordered a curry that was stone cold the poppadoms were swimming in oil and were totally uneatable Told a member of staff all she said was Sorry about that Wetherspoons have a pretty poor reputation regarding food I can fully understand why.Will never be returning
It’s a Wetherspoons so you don’t go for gourmet cuisine. Having said that, we got a clean booth, space for all five of us, a free pizza because the two we’d ordered were smaller than usual, and three happy and full kids. Lovely interesting building, too.Food: 5/5
I went there for a lunch, i was amazed by the atmosphere also the environment. And the parking is safe, easy and spacious. The service was really fast and friendly some. The food was tasty, fresh and well presented. I am thinking back again. Strongly recommended. Parking: It is easier, secure and spacious.
Cheap & Cheerful wetherspoons pub. Hot tasty food. Toilets upstairs miles away!. Only thing I find with this wetherspoons is its one big area, like a dinner hall and the tables are really close together. Nice & bright in there and a lovely outdoor area with shelter
Standard Wetherspoon's pub. Lovely food and drink at a cheap price. Friendly staff. Can get very busy at times. Nice seating inside, especially in the extension that was built onto the existing pub that was there previously. Also called the old unicorn and out. The outside seating area is a bit of a suntrap in the summer if that's your thing.
Lovely place to grab any meal .breakfasts are excellent and cheap. cosy warm place with log fire great for families with large numbers tooFood: 5/5
Very poor service, would like to have given a Zero, but that is not an option. I ordered a full English, and it arrived cold . The bacon was hanging off the plate and was allowed to touch the table. Another order was for beans, scrambled eggs, and a sausage. It arrived with bacon instead of beans, and when we queried, it was told that what was on the ticket, so that's what we got. Basically, this is what you are getting. Shocking. Will definitely not go back.
