This is at best an ok bar. It’s a good place for someone who wants to get smashed on the cheap. You can get two cocktails for £6. It definitely had a student vibe to it, and it’s somewhere I might have appreciated more five years ago. The bouncers weren’t rude to me, but this bar has someone stood in the toilet who gives you paper to dry your hands, which I didn’t like. This seems a bit old fashioned to me, and seems very 2010’s. Firstly, I don’t need someone to do that for me. But also, when I was washing my hands, he got impatient and began shaking the paper at me, which was annoying. He then asked for money, which I didn’t pay because I hadn’t asked for this. The bar generally felt unloved and cheap, with a nightclub like vibe. The music was good. I wouldn’t come back here, personally, but this is a good place for students, which I suspect is their target market.
Brilliant bar, the best music around and good drinks selection. Cheap cocktails
Visited as part of my Sister In Laws Hen Night the weekend- Saturday 25th June. Where do I start with this bar!... Originally thought it would be a good experience, liked the music even though the mash up remixing was a bit over the top - just playing the classics like Ultrabeat would have been enough instead of messing with them. I enjoyed the strobe lights. The floor was absolutely gross... we stuck to it and I almost lost my shoe it was that sticky but that is understandable in a busy bar. What isn't understandable is rude and quite stuck up snotty bar staff. I merely asked a question about the 'free shots deal with first drink ' that was being advertised on the TVs - and the staff member that I assume was the manager gave me so much attitude in her face, body language and tone - whilst saying they weren't doing it. If you aren't providing the deal don't have it advertised because people will ask and it's false advertising. It's the kind of club you want to visit when your already well under the influence of alcohol and then you probably won't care about the staff members serious lack of people skills
One of the best bars on Matthew Street cheap and great music
Rude and aggressive staff! If your with a group your ok. If your on your own you'll be picked on
Banging place cheap cocktails and over all, cheep drinks double gin and a pint under £6
absolutely gutted. been going with my wife for months and everyone who works there our boss with us but on boxing night I was dancing with my wife and 3 nob heads started throwing punches at me so all I done was defend myself, got told to leave so we did. We could understand why but went there a week later as normal and got told were barred by the head doorman. We are gutted as we love it there and they know we never cause trouble. we're barred because they know are face but if the lads who caused the trouble went back, they would get in because they wouldn't remember there faces. As regulars who put a lot of money into the place each week, I can't knock th bar staff, or doorman who are always friendly towards us, but the head door man turning regulars away is going a bit out of order. I can't even say nothing bad about him as he as always been alright but we are gutted as we love it in reminiss
Being French, it was a very disappointing first experience. While I was dancing alone, a customer next to me asked me to show her the inside of my backpack, which I did, but I refused to show her my identity card as I'm à foreigner. She complained to the bouncers who came to me to leave the bar for good. The reason... my behaviour is not appreciated by some customers. In short... in my eyes this does not give me a very good image of the English people. One star for the music.
One of My favourite bars in town to go to
Love the bar but thought the man who stands in boys toilet needs sacking. Tried to charge my husband £1 to use toilet on the way in. Then tried to do it to someone else. Last week charged him £2 for a squirt of soap and with Covid it should be free for the use of soap
