Good atmosphere in the industrial setting of Liverpool Baltic Triangle. We went for a Punk Afternoon Tea which they cater for vegan and veggie along with a meat option. You can choose cocktails which are presented in tea pots which was rather quirky. Food wise its definitely an alternative menu to the traditional afternoon tea and we enjoyed it all with the exception of the veggie cleanser posset - looked unappealing as very watery, looked as those the ingredients had split. We didn't complain as we were totally full up. Would go again
What a lovely place! Had afternoon tea here on a Sunday and it was superb. The atmosphere is great. There were groups of people there for Sunday Roast and a baby shower. A family with young children enjoyed their lunch. A few couples came in for a quiet drink and the place never felt rammed or unwelcoming. Staff are chilled and helpful. The food not only looks good but tasted fresh and with decent portions was pretty satisfying. Loved the idea that the "tea" served with the "Afternoon Tea" was really a cocktail. Unique without trying too hard at all!
I like the idea of this place; cool, chilled and casual - my kind of place. I had the salt & pepper burger which was nice although the chips were a little under cooked. Only downside was that there were quite a lot of fruit flies around which then made it feel as if the place was unclean.
Our first visit to the The Baltic Social was to take part in Day 1 of the "Pint of Science" Event. A Good choice of beers, food looked good to be fair we didn't eat there and the staff were friendly. For an event like this, the sound system was poor at its best and, the restrooms far from pleasant. Two out of the three presentations were engaging and well presented. Overall an enjoyable night.
Was in the baltic end of town the night of the England v Croatia match. . . After visiting Redbrick Market we headed back into town and spotted this place and nipped in for a swift drink at around 3pm. A dimly lit mishmash of odd chairs and rustic wooden tables with a nice looking bar. Basic drinks menu with beers - wines - few cocktails. We ordered a teapot full of pink gin fizz! Different! We were given a cup&saucer to drink from with our pot of gin fizz! The gin fizz was 'okay' and we did enjoy it as it was red hot out and the fizz was ice cold! We were peckish so ordered a portion of salt&pepper chips between us. It was massive and pretty good The bill came to £26 which wasnt bad as the teapot was big! The atmosphere was nice and relaxed in there and we chatted away for an hour or so eating our chips and gradually emptying the teapot! The food being brought out to other tables looked quite nice too! I said it was dimly lit but they switched the lights on after ½ hour which transformed the place. Why did I not give 5 stars? I'll be honest! Our table was a bit sticky like it needed a wipe over - my only gripe. The staff were lovely and attentive by the way! So no issues there So yeah we enjoyed our hour or so in the baltic social and will pop in again if near there
We came here today for a Sunday roast, the food and drinks were okay, but not worth what we paid, and the menu was initially very enticing too. We were there for 2.5 hours only eating mains because the food took so long. When it eventually did come it was cold, then took a further ten minutes to reheat by microwave. To top it off, we tried to order dessert and were told 15 minutes later that what we wanted wasn't available. The staff seemed rushed off their feet and not able to keep up with customers/requests. Probably wouldn't return.
Excellent quality and reasonable prices, especially for the Baltic Triangle. Staff are very friendly and service is quick. The interior decoration is a bit of a mix-match but works for the casual, welcoming atmosphere.
Staff were very nice and so was the decor, so I feel quite bad giving a low review, but I was unfortunately so disappointed. They were out of lots of things including certain wine, nachos and chicken, which ruled out a lot of the menu. Considering it was a pretty quiet evening this was kind of surprising. Some of the food was really tasty, especially the cauliflower wings, and portions were generous. But others were quite poor. The salt and pepper chips were nothing like they usually are, with oven fries in minimal seasoning topped with raw onion and chilli. They didn't even have the pepper on which is advertised on the menu - it was a strange one. Usually the vegetables are cooked. We were also given salad cream when we asked for mayo which I didn't mind but was a bit strange. Given the lack of items available, we were kind of bummed out when a service charge was added at the end which we didn't know about. There are some quite whacky cocktails which were nice and served in teapots and teacups, so if you're thinking of visiting I would stick to drinks. If you want specific things from menu you may be gambling on the availability.
The Baltic Social is a great place to eat and drink. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. Try the traditional Scouse. Another bonus is that The Baltic Social is open when the nearby eateries in the Cains Brewery are shut early in the week.
Would rate is 0 if possible. Firstly the waiter got the incorrect drinks order , ordered starters and finished them one member of staff asked if we had finished. We replied no sorry. Within 3 minutes a different staff member asked the same question and we also ordered a main course. When the main course arrived out it wasn’t what I ordered I spoke to the staff and they changed it said about 5 mins was more about 15. After my friend had finished her burger by the time mine was out. Didn’t enjoy the food Staff had no communication The music was the highlight of my visit Do not recommend it Over priced food and service wasn’t great Plenty of much nicer places around the corner
