Cosy traditional pub with great pub grub food. Lots of beer and spirits to choose from. Fantastic looking place on the outside and the inside. Staff are friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. Highly recommended.

Pub on two levels, some of the seating has seen better days. Good staff. Table service for food. Menu is varied but basic. Good wine and cask beer options.

One of the very few pubs with weekly live traditional music sessions in the city! There's no TV screens so not the place for the football fans, but ideal for someone looking for a relaxed, more genuine atmosphere. Gets 4 stars out of 5 because the food could be better for the price (the chicken was quite dry and the chips nothing better than some you'd find at Tesco), but they do serve yummy deep-fried Mars bars with ice cream! Apart from the food, the Old Blackfriars is a very nice place for a drink, with a good choice of beers and an interesting, descriptive whisky list.

Brilliant place to take the Mrs. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, great quality food & service was decent. I would recommend it to anyone really
