Approached the bar area and asked for hot drinks and was told it was table service so we sat at a table. I went to the toilet and my husband stayed at the table so he could give our order, then he went to the toilet. The staff cleared tables, took another order, brought out food, completely ignored us. I stood and quite loudly said Well our custom is not needed here. Two staff looked at me but still no one approached, so we got up, noisily moved the chairs picked up our many shopping bags and left. We had waited 15 minutes to be ignored. Went to Debenham where we had a lovely meal and great staff.

It's cosy with relaxing music. Such a shame most of the stuff in the menu is pricey. But on the bright side the waitresses here are very pretty. Although it wouldn't hurt to smile when serving. Think that's what lost a star; less friendly.

After 3 years in Bournemouth, my review: Nothing going for Obscura other than convenient location. The manager needs a change of career, and that's coming from someone who advises people in career choices. This place is a black hole of compassion and no-one here is interested in you enjoying your visit. My friend wasn't allowed to buy 2 coffees because one was for a homeless guy they want to keep away from customers. Friend told to leave. Are you joking? Management: Whatever you do next will be better than this cafe. Don't drag it out.

I was visiting a close friend in the area. After my long travel from the USA I was quite tired and I thought a coffee would help. Unfortunately it did not, because the management here was awful. I witnessed the manager ask my friend to leave and refuse him service because he wanted to buy a second coffee, for someone outside in the shivering cold. I was appalled at how mean this person was. How you think you can lead a team or run a successful business without putting your guests and other humans first is beyond me. Maybe some day you will need help and I hope that same man outside helps you. Then, perhaps, you will learn what compassion is. Avoid giving this business your money. Give it to someone who really needs it.

I ordered two little breakfasts with a pot of tea for two. Price approximately £18.00. Tea comes separate. No problem I can read the menu and see the prices. The food comes and the beans are cold. If i am paying £18.00, I expect the food to be served correctly. Not a lot to ask. I tell the waitress who asks if I would like some more. Yes please. 5 minutes later the beans arrive, literally melted together. Maybe the chef has a problem with complaints, as it seemed he was trying to make a point. Problem was I had finished my food. I explained to the waitress it was too late, as I had finished my food. She simply says sorry and walks off. So as my wife finishes I speak to the Manager, bald chap can't miss him. I have nothing against baldies, I'm one myself. I explained the situation, suggesting they could have made good by having offered me a free cup of tea. I didn't want the tea, I just wanted a little common courtesy, polite common sense customer service. The manager who clearly didn't care and with complete apathy, asked did I want a cup of tea. I said no as we were both now finished. Expecting maybe an offer of a free cup of tea next time or a voucher as way of apology, I received neither. Bare in mind I don't live in Bournemouth and could never have used it. I would however have gladly accepted, as it was the principle. The offer to make good was what I wanted. SIMPLE, BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. The manager is a complete disingenuous waste of space who couldn't be more obviously disinterested if he tried. Time for you to move on my friend, your not up to the job. As for the chef what a joke, you can't even cook beans, SERIOUSLY!
