Story

Oakham Veterinary Hospital is a long established practice on the outskirts of Oakham, Rutland. Our premises are purpose built and set in 8.5 acres surrounded by rural countryside.

We have extensive hospital facilities and diagnostic equipment in both our equine and small animal departments. Our experienced and caring teams of vets, nurses and support staff offer a complete veterinary service from routine examinations, vaccinations, visits, etc. to specialist surgery with the very latest 'state of the art' equipment.

We are dedicated to deliver the very best of veterinary care and service and are proud to have a Tier 3 hospital status, accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. We also have a clinical association with the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science giving us access to the expertise from leading veterinary specialists

Booked for my dog to have a laparoscopic spay as it isn’t offered by my registered vet. The pre-procedure, procedure and post procedure were all excellent. Totally unrelated to the spay my dog was unwell just before one the post procedure follow ups, the team at Oakham Veterinary Hospital were faultless in their assistance and treatment.

We live in Durham and had to visit the practice with our dog Archie while away on holiday. Everyone I spoke to from the receptionist who answered the phone, the nurse I spoke to on the phone and the vet were brilliant. They were helpful, very pleasant and knowledgeable. We were made to feel very welcome. I would recommend the practice 100%

The vets are really nice here & experienced, really great, the women on the desks however are not. They are rude. I taken my horse here for sarcoid treatment & I was left in the yard with a horse that wouldn’t stop walking around stressed, and they given me paperwork to fill in, all whilst holding and walking my horse as I had no help, my partner inexperienced & the horse box owner was only there to drop us off, they would not let me put my horse in a stable and fill out the paperwork instead I had to manage on my own with a stressed horse, I was stressed, and filling in sheets. It was absolutely awful. The staff are also Demanding & degrading, and they also go back on their word. Iv witnessed them not only be rude to me over a late payment and also to my family members when we already had the stress of putting our cat to sleep making it a terrible experience for us all even after paying £600 before this. I will continue to use Oakham vets because of the vets themselves but anything else beyond that is awful.

I was looking for a vet open on Sunday to take my guinea pig to have his sore eye looked at. We absolutely hit the jackpot with Oakham Veterinary Hospital. We were given a warm welcome by the lady on reception. The waiting area is large and really calming for pets. The vet we saw was really friendly and gave a thorough diagnosis for my piggies eye. We didn't feel rushed at all, and I left feeling happy with my pigs treatment.

We had a very sad time at the vets. The vet who helped Scrappy was amazing she really cares about the animals and their human family. Thank you so much

Carnt fault them in saving our little girls life with endless amount of treatment and care. Dispite being bank holiday weekend they gave her their all to make her better and we was invited in daily to see her so we were kept up to date.

Our dog was very poorly whilst holidaying in the area. The time, care and treatment we received at Oakham Veterinary Hospital was outstanding, ‘truly the best vets we’ve visited.

Friendly staff with great facilities. This is a high-end veterinary practice that the price reflects.

The vets have been fantastic dealing with my horses laminitis, there for 5 long weeks but they let me visit each week, daily updates every morning, the vet dealing with her called once a week and on our visits back for xrays and shoeing with their excellent farrier the staff have been genuinely excited to see her as she wasn't the easiest patient, last trip today and given clean bill of health though still remedial shoeing done by my own farrier, they also don't overcharge which is great and I wouldn't go any where else if I needed truly expert and kind advice, they truly care about the horses that are there understanding what us owners are going through

We were warmly welcomed by the reception team. The treatment my pet received was very thorough. I would recommend this practice.
