I went this evening to see the rock orchestra. Entry took no time at all and the lady at the box office told us where we had to go to get to our seats up on the balcony. The concert was fabulous with amazing set design which was beautiful, the lighting really made it and changed through out and did it without making you want to have a fit! During the intermission My other half went to the bar, I thought I wouldn’t see him for half an hour but he was back with in min with two perfectly chilled drinks for us and commented on that it was cheaper than a gig we went to recently else where. Will definitely be looking to see what else they have on there as it was a fantastic night out that was a bit different
The O2 Guildhall in Southampton is a fantastic venue for live music and events, offering a mix of historic charm and modern entertainment. Located in the heart of the city, the building’s classic architecture and grand interior create an impressive backdrop for any performance. The acoustics here are excellent, making it a great place to enjoy live music. Whether it’s a rock concert, comedy show, or classical performance, the sound quality is consistently high. The intimate setting also allows for a closer connection to the performers, adding to the overall experience. The venue is well-organized, with efficient staff who manage the crowds well, even during sold-out events. The seating is comfortable, though some areas have better views than others, so it's worth checking the seating plan before booking. For standing events, the floor space is ample, and the atmosphere is always electric. One of the highlights is the variety of acts that the Guildhall attracts—there’s something for everyone, from big-name artists to up-and-coming talent. The venue also hosts a range of other events, including exhibitions and conferences, making it a versatile spot in the city.
Lovely space for a youth orchestra concert. The seating arrangements were good, and views of the stage were great. Fully stocked bar, which whilst pricey was within the expected range for a venue. Entry and exit were well organised and stewarded. Overall a great evening was had by all of us.
Massive building that looks rather grand from outside! Attended a Tom Jones gig there, which was outside and as they were catering for many, many people, they had the two bars running down either side and another big bar in the centre of the room. Bar staff were pleasant and polite. The toilets were clean, as was each room we visited.
Went to see kaiser chiefs at the summer sessions on Sunday. Amazing! Lovely atmosphere, great facilities and the no and low bar was a big hit for me while im pregnant. It was so nice to be able to see everything that was available for me and nice to be able to order without a crowd of people.
A superb gig venue, great sound, great staff, big and traditional hall. The bar was a bit disappointing as pale ale went off very quickly, but excellent experience.
A great night seeing Orbital. Forgot to pick up top from cloakroom after gig, but had no issues collecting at a later date
Kaiser Chiefs who were closing the Summer Sessions at the Guildhall. What an epic gig! The event was very well organised, and no queues to gets into the venue or for getting drinks. Drinks prices were what is expected at a gig of this type. Will look out for future gigs being held at the Guildhall.
The Lord Mayor’s dance for three charities was a great success, thanks to the 262 people that purchased tickets and came to support such worthy causes. We thank you! Together we raised £3200. YOU were all Amazing! The event was organised by Dottie Woods, a positive psychologist and supported by Danny Foyle from Dance Yourself Dizzy. We are so proud of all the support from the dance community that enabled this event to take place on a Monday afternoon! The management and team at the O2 Guildhall, Southampton were all incredible, nothing was too much trouble and all done with a smile and expertise. Ian, Hugo and Dan were quick to answer my many questions. The tech guys, oh so knowledgeable and a dream to work with, such easy company and accommodating! Emily and George on the door with a warm welcome and helped people feel safe. Tasha, Mia and team serving great drinks and cakes with a little dance too! Carolynn and Sue in the box office fabulous too!! It all helped create a warm, friendly yet fabulous vibe!! Thank you!! Hopefully we can return to do it all again one day soon!!! Warm wishes Dottie, Danny & Team xxx
Interesting venue. Almost like a large school hall. Great views even from the back, on the balcony. Decent sound, although I was at the Nottingham Rock City two weeks prior and that venue was superior on both counts. However, that is a smaller venue. Hot as hell though. I suspect this venue lacks air conditioning. That said, I really like this venue. Looks great, decent views and well located. My hotel was a 15 minutes walk away. Very central. If a band won't come to Plymouth, I would consider coming here again.
