Not the best experience. The set out is ridiculous. You need a sat nav just to find the tills. My wife is disabled and needed something from the car so I had to be quick. I went to the closest door. The power hungry security guard had a right go at me and made me walk through the whole store even though I tried to explain. This store is definitely not disabled friendly.
This a lovely, 'dogs allowed', garden centre which is the reason I've at least given it 2 stars. However, my friend is in a wheelchair and I have a well behaved dog so as you can imagine, getting out and about together, particularly to eat or drink, can be challenging. We visited a couple of days ago and the temperature outside was very cold. The cafe is not dog friendly so I requested that we be allowed to sit on a table were my dog could sit just by the archway entrance to the cafe and therefore not really IN the cafe explaining that my friend was in a wheelchair. I was told no and advised that dogs are only allowed outside on the patio. When I reiterated that my friend was not in a position to keep warm by moving around, I was told that 'it's not that cold outside'. We decided to make use of the toilet facilities, which are outside at the garden centre, before leaving to find somewhere else to eat. The toilet facilities were a whole other problem. I waited for ages outside the disabled cubicle for my friend to come out and two people were also queueing with small babies to use the changing facilities which were also inside the disabled cubicle. As I said previously it was very cold that day. One lady gave up in the end and went to her car to change her baby. The reason my friend took so long was because she had to rearrange the facility to use it. Bins and things had been stored up against the pull down grab rails so she had to shunt around in her wheelchair trying to move them out of the way before she could even try lifting herself out of the wheelchair. She was conscious people were waiting outside as she could hear them talking impatiently so by the time she emerged she was very upset by this experience. When it comes to providing for wheelchair users this garden centre is shameful. It operates only a tick in the box policy. Maybe the managers of this centre should sit in a wheelchair on a cold day in december and try to make use of the services being provided. They would find that a lot of the displays are too close together to get a wheelchair through, the toilet cubicle is seriously unacceptable and definitely shouldn't be shared with baby changing, and if they wanted a cup of coffee with a friend they can forget it unless they want to get hypothermia. If you have any sort special requirement that needs catering for such as a wheelchair, dog or baby, this garden centre has a tick in the box to provide for all but it really DOESN'T welcome you.
An interesting place for a wonder, wont keep you busy for ages and there is a chance that there is something you may want as there is a fair bit of variety. Be prepared to potentially pay a little above average as with most of these garden centre type set ups..!
Pleasant enough garden centre/cafe/gift shop with a wide range of gifts, especially the edible drinkable kind. A bit on the pricey side though.
Clean surroundings and good service but food cod and chips was undercooked and almost inedible- even after been given a second meal - probably best for tea and cake only - disappointed
I’m posting this because I’m appalled at the huge price mark up on most of the Christmas items for sale at this store. Some of the items I know for sure can be bought for half the price elsewhere. Sorry guys, but when you’re moaning in the New Year you haven’t had a good Christmas trade blame yourselves. It’s sheer greed. By the way if you don’t believe me look at the price of your light up reindeer for outside at approximately £250, then look at the same items priced approximately £140 at the Range, you’ll see what I mean! Play the game people.
Really magical at Christmas time! I tend to kill all of my flowers, but I have bought quite a few here and always receive helpful advice on how to keep them alive. Kelly does the most beautiful displays, and although this particular store is smaller than the Tonbridge wells one, I’d say during the winter it feels like a grotto. People come every year with their families to see the large trees covered in decorations, and now they even have singing reindeer! The cafe is fine, although it really needs a few more chairs! That does show how popular it is though!
Where do I start.. It's a wonderful Garden Centre plus.. endless products, gifts, home accessories and somewhere to eat, drink and chat be it with friends, family or on your own. There is so much to take in and can get lost in there for an hour or more.
Very nice garden centre with a cafe and other businesses on site. Also there are plenty of parking spaces.
Very disappointed with my visit. Asked nursery staff for help finding something and got fobbed off. Went to the little restaurant and ordered full English breakfast for 3. Waited 35 minutes and when I complained the staff gave a half hearted apology and ignored me. Definitely will NOT be returning.
