Such a wonderful centre. I started visiting 2 years ago, originally for lunchtime meditation and for evening courses I highly recommend the courses. For the last year I've been a regular at the Tuesday night class and I highly recommend it, it's really helped me go deeper with my meditation practice and to apply buddhist principles in my daily life. The team are excellent, super friendly and caring, and you're immediately welcomed into a great community :
I came here in good faith to do a 6 week course. Sadly I fell unwell after 3 weeks and though I emailed them, they just totally ignored me. I wouldn’t go to this centre again and I definitely would not recommend it. They have shown me they do not care about a persons wellbeing. They just take the money and generally it’s a very unfriendly, unprofessional venue. Very unprofessional. My booking is under Natasha Dabiri
Very unfriendly and unwelcoming venue. We were told the seating area was not a place we could sit around unless we were doing a class. We were told this as we just entered through the front door. This is a yoga centre on the pretence of being a Buddhist place of mediation and reflection. Overall, this place has a very negative vibe.
I've attended two lunch-time meditation sessions here, which take place 12-1 p.m. every weekday for a donation of GBP 6 per session. These were taught by two different teachers. Both the times, I was brought into calmness by the teachers' guidance during the meditation, and also by the beauty of the shrine, the simplicity of the spaces in the centre and the just-right welcoming nature of the first floor. Clean mats, cushions, blankets and even chairs are freely available for your meditation class. People were polite and soft-spoken. Such a refreshing change from the outside-buzz of the city. I am delighted and feel grateful that in the heart of a busy city like London, we have access to this oasis conducive to building a regular meditation practice, if you decide to do so. Oh and if you are visiting the centre, do purchase the eco-friendly incense by Nippon Kodo that they sell. The fragrance is subtle yet pleasant.
Wonderful centre. We run our Recovery Dharma meetings here and are always given a warm welcome and a beautiful room. I've also been here for yoga with Tony, who is encouraging and attentive. There are teas available in the kitchen area dana encouraged, not demanded and a range of classes and courses to choose from. It's a Buddhist Centre that manages to be both cheerful as well as peaceful. There is a real sense of sangha. Highly recommended.
I'm attending here the second course about Buddhism and meditation every Monday evening and I love the environment. Everything it's cozy and familiar and the people are lovely.
What I love from this Centre is the sense of calm when you enter, the friendliness of the people and the fact that as soon as you start coming regularly, people recognise you and you feel part of a community. For me this is very important as London can be quite isolating and lonely.
I was quite disappointed by my experience of the centre. I arrived early for a mindfulness class on a cold winter’s day and I asked if I could wait inside for the class to start. I was told I couldn’t come inside and so had to wait outside. This struck me as quite a shame - a big warm building sitting nearly empty with its doors closed. I’d imagined this would be a welcoming space, similar to the Buddhist center in Bethnal Green, but in practice I found the culture here to be different.
I've been attending the Saturday meditation for a while either online or in person. I've always had a great experience, very nice people and experienced meditation leads. You will feel comfortable even if you are not Buddhist or a regular meditator.
Really nice Buddhist meditation place linked to the Triratna Buddhist movement. The teacher who taught us deeper meditation was lovely and I would definitely revisit. Thanks to North London Buddhist Centre for making such a place open for people to develop inner calmness and inner peace with Buddhist mindfulness meditation.
