They allow men to dress as women to staff their centres, they allow gay people to lead meditation sessions. But they perceive an ethical behaviour issue with men clarifying their intentions, attraction and offering women a date. Instead of raising the women to regain their inner strength through shadow work which they preach often. they’d rather have interventions with men out of fear of women’s long history insecure rebellions - creating conflict out of healthy candid offers. Nonetheless the meditation practice is top tier. Sovereign minds,
If you’re considering going to this place, just do it! I’d been meaning to go for years. I started with the January meditation challenge and then signed up to the mindfulness course with Maitrebandhu, the legend who is wise and hilarious in equal measure! It’s deep but lighthearted. I looked forward to it every week, seeing the people from our group each week and sharing our experiences. The teachings were so uplifting and applicable to daily life. I always came away much happier and lighter than when I walked in. Wonderful wonderful place! Keep up the good work
Going to the London Buddhist Centre was the best decision I have ever made in a long time. The atmosphere is zen. The folk working there are so very lovely, especially the gentleman at reception. It is also in a great location, which pulls in a really diverse bunch of people. The bookshop is also amazing with so many gems. Wish I was still living in Hackney, I would be a regular at the Centre for sure.
Wonderful community and fantastic meditation teachers and classes. Saturday morning classes are an ideal way to drop in and learn the practices. The retreats they organise are also exceptional! Thank you LBC!
Been here a few times and so far so good! It feels like a nice and not too intimidating start into meditation and Buddhism that’s open to everyone and feels welcoming. They have a sliding pay scale too which is very welcomed. Only met good people and staff here so far.
Such a beautiful and welcoming community and space. I have taken part in a few courses and regularly visit for Saturday morning meditation.
Really amazing place. One of the only places in London where you can meet genuinely nice people, and have a real sense of community. I would recommend to come a few times for the meditation classes to really get into it - some people come once, can't concentrate and get put off - but this is totally normal - it takes a while to make progress and they give great guidance.
This centre has a realy friendly atmosphere, and is worth trying meditation if your not familiar with it‍
After taking care of my body at the spa experience sauna and ice plunge round the corner at the York Hall Leisure Center, I walked into the buddhist center to attend a mindfulness meditation group session led by Ruth. The people there are so warm and welcoming I highly recommend it whether you are a beginner or advanced. The session was deeply engaging and I would out feeling a new energy, body and mind replenished.
This place literally changed my life. All the people are lovely, the yoga and meditation lessons are excellent and really inspirational. I've also experienced a retreat for sub25 and it was an amazing experience. It is an incredible gift that you can find such a quiet place in London, and you do not have to become member or being buddhist, you are accepted, whoever you are. My problems and my anxiety completely disappeared as soon as I entered the centre. Thank you for everything!!
