What a lovely theatre! This theatre has all it's original charm and is well preserved. We were lucky enough to watch 2 Disney films to a live orchestra and the venue was perfect. The sound of the orchestra was amazing in the venue and the old charm of the place just added to our experience. A good choice of old bars and whilst the drinks and snacks were somewhat pricey I think it's to be expected in that type of venue.
Lovely theater that tends to host touring shows rather than West End fixtures. Comfy seats, lots of places to eat and drink nearby before or after the show, and there's an Underground station about 15 minutes walk away. It's farther from Central London than the rest of the West End theaters, but it's a cute area and worth the trip for shows that you can't see anymore.
Brilliant theatre, had great Panto ever Xmas, with some top stars. Seen Pamela Anderson and The Hoff there some years ago. Recently saw an amazing production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Pretty big theatre with great views from all seats. Tickets are reasonably priced.
Lovely theater. Very easy to reach from the station. Clean and nice staff. It is a small theater so any seats will give you a good view of the stage
I love this theatre! The size is just right, not so large and sprawling that you feel you need binoculars, yet not too small. The staff are friendly and surprise, surprise, I didn't have to wait an age to get served at the bar! You're allowed to take drinks to your seats no glass. I didn't know you could preorder drinks in advance, online only, and get them brought to your seat! Will do next time for sure. It's relatively easy to get to depending on your location, obviously, and a large number of pretheatre cafes, pubs, and restaurants in the immediate area. Well done, @wimbledonnewtheatre ! Till the next time. P.S. looks fab by night! The Illegal Eagles were simply, SUPERB! 100% recommend them! Wonderful harmonies, great memories and a lovely bunch of guys! #illegaleagles And then Elvis!
Such a beautiful theatre with so much history! I was lucky enough to be treated to a tour of the whole theatre, which was incredible! I've visited most in London and this is one of my favourites, and so much more accessible than travelling into central. The upcoming show schedule is the most exciting I've seen here, so looking forward to visiting again soon.
Too hot during warm weather. Watched Jungle book with live band. Overall beautiful theatre, great service but way too uncomfortable when outside temperatures were high. Don’t think there is air conditioning and definitely wasn’t turned on during the show. Everyone was hot and my 3 year old fell asleep most of the show and was sweating through his clothes and hair. We were going to step out but didn’t want to disturb the audience. Would recommend but avoid when hot.
First time visiting this theatre and went to see the amazing Sir Ian McKellen in player kings. Every single member of staff I interacted with was excellent. Kind , courteous and had more than enough knowledge about the play and facilities. It is a good size theatre and never felt over crowded in the bars or when moving around the building. I sat in the stalls and the view was perfect, and was as shown on the website when I booked. Anyone complaining about the view they had must have the attention span of a goldfish as it's very clear what you will get from the seat you chose. The player kings is a very very long performance, so I was even more grateful that the seating was comfortable and spacious. If I see another performance I wish to see here I wouldn't hesitate to return. The surrounding area is also filled with bars and restaurants if you wish to make a day of your visit.
Saw Come From Away here which was hands down the greatest play/musical I've ever seen in my life. Clever, funny, emotional and very touching, I loved just about every second of it. I also had a good view of the action from my seat in the Dress Circle. The reason why I gave a four star review wasn't because of the play, but instead because of the theatre. There was only one Gents toilets in the whole theatre, it was extremely small and they didn't have cubicles inside, only a metal urinal stand meaning that I was unable to take a number 2. I wasn't desperate to go, but it was still inconvenient and not very professional for a theatre in my opinion.
The New Wimbledon Theatre offers an enchanting escape into the world of live performance, as evidenced by my recent experience watching "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." While the theater's interior may bear the marks of its age, with somewhat stiff seating, the atmosphere pulsates with an infectious energy that transcends any physical discomfort. It's an arena where shared excitement reigns supreme, drawing in a diverse crowd of families, couples, and friends, all eager to immerse themselves in the magic of the stage. Unlike the passive consumption of a movie, live theater fosters a unique bond between performers and audience members. Witnessing the tale unfold mere feet away, with no safety net of retakes or edits, instills a sense of immediacy and intimacy that is both thrilling and humbling. The seamless transitions between sets add to the immersive experience, keeping the narrative momentum flowing without interruption. London's theater scene, with its rich history and vibrant productions, is truly a treasure trove waiting to be explored. Each visit leaves a lasting impression, deepening my appreciation for this timeless art form. "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" exemplifies the power of theater to evoke nostalgia and wonder, uniting audiences in a shared sense of joy and wonderment. It's an experience that resonates long after the final curtain falls, beckoning me back for more.
