Story

New London Café Fact Sheet

New London Café is the brain child of Ilker Bafra & Ines Gutierrez. This husband & wife team have been massive foodies all there lives. Ilker of Turkish decent has been involved in the restaurant business for over 20 years having managed all types & styles in the Islington area. His experience is varied and this shows in New London Cafe menu. Likewise Ines has had many years involvement in restaurants with a fanatical about food family back in Spain she was brought up with the wonderful tastes of her home country.

New London Café is a warm cosy venue in the heart of Highbury. Nestled on the corner of St Pauls Road and Highbury Grove, just a stones throw away from Upper Street Islington and the Arsenal.

Having been open for several months they have decided now things have calmed down from all the mayhem involved in opening a new venue to launch properly and let the local community know who they are and what they are about.

The café is a mixture of English staple dishes as well as a few international offerings. The head chef Paulo Santus has been with café since opening. Originally from Sardinia he has mastered his trade all over the world and has chose to settle in London. You can see his style shine through with the weekly specials and delicious home made soup which changes on a regular basis.

Although not strictly organic the New London Café embraces the ethos of natural artisan food and offers many organic ingredients in their food as well as in their small exclusive delicatessen. The team source the finest products and offer a take out service for many exciting products ranging from amazing 'Kargs' 'Emmental & Pumpkin Crackers, perfect with cheese or fresh sliced tomato or their 'Raymond Blanc' 'Organic Porridge Oats' Delicious, to 'Teapigs' 'Chamomile Flowers' an unusual twist on the average tea bag!

The food on offer are real scrumptious hearty dishes. Breakfast is served from 8am with the classics, continental or the the decadent 'Oh la la' Home made French toast with cinnamon, butter and drizzled lashings of Canadian maple syrup. Every day home made burgers are on the menu, using only fine pure beef as well as yummy healthy salads freshly made to order and a range of exciting sandwiches. On top of an extensive menu they have a large drinks selection including all your favourite teas as well as health kick smoothies.

New London Café offers many services. They are happy to cater in house or outside for parties, corporate meetings and special events. The venue is a great location for children’s parties and we offer a full service including childrens menu, birthday cakes, balloons and party packs. The café also boasts a lovely sun terrace (seasonal) and would be happy to provide this space for events. They also offer a delivery service to local business on a minimum order and only on their amazing sandwich selection all served on fresh artisan bread.

Really good food, great selection on the menu at affordable prices, generous portions, friendly staff and quick service. Located just across the road from the lovely Alwyne Castle pub. Four of us ate lunch with drinks and the bill came to £34. Will definitely go back and try other foods on the menu. My son’s loved the pancakes.
The food was very well priced, filling and tasty although nothing special if I‘m being fair. The crepes were huge and a really good dessert choice! Great for a quick morning stop - but no wow factor to keep me going back again and again.
We had an English breakfast and pancakes, they were absolutely delicious! The service was fast and super friendly! The place isn't big, but very cozy and cute. We'll definitely go back more times.
Delicious eggs and avocado, the sun-dried tomatoes have it a great flavour. The back room is bright and airy, perfect for a weekend brunch. Excellent service too, even got a complimentary biscuit with the coffee.
Lovely place with a heartwarming staff, delicious sweets, tasty beverages but most importantly great look at the size of it, it's huge! Full English Breakfast. One of those can sustain you for the whole day! Just don't forget to grab a tea with it and enjoy the café's atmosphere and local architecture ;
Great food/coffee combined with great prices, a beautiful place and friendly staff. A true hidden gem that worths a visit!
I ordered the eggs and avocado with a latte. The latte was lovely. Unfortunately the poached eggs were terrible and not fresh at all! The first picture is what I ordered their own photo the second one is what I got. The eggs were definitely old and did not hold together at all. They were also covered in a spice possible chilli powder I then informed the staff I would not be paying for this after trying to get their attention previously. At the till they spoke in their own language and were rude after I had complained about the eggs. Coffee was lovely but will definitely not be going back for food.
£6.95 for a full English within zone 2! 2 eggs, 2 rashers of bacon sometimes there's a third snuck in, 1 big sausage, 2 hash browns, 4 cherry tomatoes, 1 Portobello mushroom, a generous portion of beans, and a slice of toast. Love thy name is "New London cafe on slow Sunday morning". Aaaand with the full English you can add a hot drink for £1. It's a dream. Other food options I'm told are good. On the decor front they've got a wall of women from aorund the 50s, my gf and I don't get it, but it is amusing. Service is good, tend to take and produce orders quickly and will check that everything is alright, but they're not intrusive.
The food was tasty and friendly staffs Just the bacons were quite hard to chew But overall, good environment and reasonable price
Fabulous food and great coffee, would have been 5 stars but for the fact that I felt a distinctly cold draught.
