As will most national trust venues this was interesting and enjoyable for adults and children alike. We visited during Easter hols to do the Easter egg hunt and it was very very busy over lunch time. However, the bright and cheery staff coped well. We were wrapped up warm and in waterproofs as it was muddy when wet but that just adds to the fun for our adventurers!

Visited here with the folks on Easter sunday, we had a nice gentle walk around the grounds which was nice, the walking was easy with nice views, stopped at a hut for a coffee which was good too. However the house itself was underwhelming and the lunch offering wasn't casual enough in our opinion. The coffee shack offered sweet snacks which wasn't enough we wanted a sandwich or something similar, so we went to the restaurant in our muddy wellies to be asked if we'd booked, which we hadn't and because it was just past 2 they were only serving afternoon tea. All seemed a bit formal, mum and dad said there are much better national trust places to see, I don't think they'd rush back here! However I enjoyed jumping in muddy puddles and using the tree swings!! #big kid!

A lovely place for all the family, lots to do and great walks. Many areas buggy friendly and able to go up into this woodland. Great exhibition at present on the sufferage. Highly recommend a national trust membership.

We are members of the National trust so entrance for us was free as was the car park .Prices vary from payment for car park to walk the many footpaths around the estate , to entrance to house ,gardens ,walks etc The house is the home to the N T costume collection ,some of which are always on display The theme for this season is Votes for women and there are displays in each room covering this This subject divided this family and you get to see both sides of the campaign and how they were affected As usual there are paintings and furniture on display as well The immediate groups outside at the moment are awash with snowdrops with the promise of more daffodils to come a few are already in flower . The bear house and ice house are worth a visit the rockery is unsuitable for wheelchairs as is the ice house But the views from the top paths are lovely The "Chapel " is also worth a visit the trees close by are a mass of pink/purple cyclamen which is amazing There's plenty of room for children to run and a couple of play areas with logs etc to climb on and swings in one and a slide in the other The guides were informative and friendly The cafe looked good although we didn't eat there There's a second hand bookshop as well as the NT plant sales and shop Nearby at Broad cyst are other parts of the estate that can be visited

Lovely property. Really nice grounds. They are visited with large lawns, open grasslands, a forest, some planted gardens. There are two cafes and a restaurant and a really nice shop. Well worth a visit.
