What a lovely day my sister & I spent here. Privileged to be on the last tour of the grounds lead by the fabulously knowledgeable lady guiding us. Superb coffees & pasties from the snack hut. To top it off a fantastic wander round this gem of a house thanks to 2 incredible cousins from a bygone age when women simply didn't live their lives like this. Lovely guides patiently asking on all their knowledge even tho we were last out on the last open day of this year. Will be back! As a bonus we scanned both QR codes to give a marvellous view of the shell gallery & guided tour of the house to rewatch once home
Caretakered by the National Trust unfortunately visiting is closed for the season so going to return early summer next year. Managed a few snaps from the roadside the gardens and building is very well kepted over looking the river exe. This year the cost to visit was £11 per Adult there is also a option to become a member of the the National Trust as an annual member where there's great savings to be had if your looking to visit more sights over a year savings start after you've visited 7 or 8 places so well worth considering.nAll in all easy to find and located in beautiful grounds this rare 16 sided building overlooks the River Exe definitely going to come back to see insidem
We had a fantastic visit to A La Ronde!! We did a walking tour of the estate with Nigel and he was great fun, I really enjoyed the tour. We then ventured inside and there were plenty of volunteers dotted throughout. We grabbed lunch from the food van on site and the staff there were fantastic too. This was a lovely national trust and I loved how it looked like a moomin house!
Beautiful house! Well maintained with beautiful shells and feather collection/decorations. The volunteers are very friendly with lots of knowledge about the house and people who lived there.nThe van has great drinks, cakes, soups, scones and panini's.
This little gem of a National Trust venues is a pearl in the crown of the beautiful county of Devonshire. The house itself is steeped in history. Owned by two sisters the hexadecagon shape was to facilitate daylight to the house all through the day. The gem of the house itself is the shell gallery. Sadly it has become so fragile over the years it is no longer accessible to the public...BUT fear not ye intrepid explorers, because now in the lower levels not only is there a recreation of the shell art work adorning the gallery walls. You can also take a VR head set tour of gallery. Top this off by taking a walk through the grounds or by sitting in the garden enjoying the view with a Devonshire cream tea. Bewarned the scones are the size of doorstops and the cream comes in a mountain. All in all well woth a visit.
