I'm not sure why this branch is still open, I assume Natwest is tying to run it down so they can close it. The already very short opening hours are even shorter for the counter which closes before the advertised closing time and doesn't open on Saturday at all. Surely when I can do most things online, the only reason I would go to branch is because I need counter service. When the counter is closed which is pretty much always is when I've visited all that the staff can do is help you use the ATMs. The staff themselves seem fine but are unable to offer anything approaching a decent service thanks to the lack of counter opening at this branch. I hardly ever visit now, which I'm guessing is what the management want so that they can claim that usage has dropped and then close it.
Popped in first time at Nat West Barnsley to sort a lost card out with my partner. Worst ever, miserable greeting, customer facing !!! Absolutely disgusting ..and I work for a bank ..Nat West unfortunately your staff are lacking in being 'Approachable' to say the least. Won't be visiting again ..I'd advise to go and seek another branch.
Staff turned away my husband making a cash withdrawal from our joint account at 15:45. States on both the website and Google that it’s open til 16:30. Neglects to mention anywhere that you can’t use the cash desk after 16:00. I left work at 16:00 and was at the branch 10 minutes later, to be told to come back the following day despite being told to come back by a staff member. Appalling service resulting in loss of income to myself and the inability to withdraw the cash that I urgently need.

Went into the Barnsley branch today and the customer service from Tess I think her name was and the manager was amazing! Definitely 5*. They could have said there was nothing they could do in the unfortunate circumstances but both went above and beyond to help. The best customer service I have ever received by a mile!
10:40am on a Wednesday . Presumably a very busy time for any business especially here at NatWest . Following the closure of RBS 50meters away, you’d think that NatWest would ensure staffing/service counters are at least doubled . However, we have two service counters open with a queue as far as the eye can see. Baffling how any business could plan so poorly . The customers suffering are elderly with walking sticks and other immobile people. It’s not the fault of the staff who are working in such severe strain . Surely the FSA or other body who regulates banks could look into this farce .....not just in Barnsley but Sheffield too.
I had occasion to pop into my geographical 'local' branch Barnsley and pay a very small cheque into my account. It was a pretty fleeting visit, more or less straight in and out. Following this I received an email from the branch asking 'how did we do'..You know the usual sort of questions. I duly completed the survey and left a note about a slight niggle I had with my account, in that I actually live in Barnsley but my account is actually held in Torquay in Devon where I used to live. I commented that I was told 10 years ago, I couldn't 'move' the account, I would have to open a new one, which didn't seem logical to me. So I mentioned it in the survey. In the following few days, I received a call on my mobile from a not recognised number so it didn't get answered. I have a rather terse, but mildly funny voicemail message on my phone and eventually when I played back the voicemail it turned out to be the Barnsley Natwest Bank manager. She left me a nice message and said she'd try again later. But I didn't hear that call come through. Anyway, this Saturday morning just gone, I thought I'd pop in and see what they actually wanted. The customer service people greeted me, and he person turned out to be the branch manager, the lady who had phoned during the week. She was very pleasant and highly informative. She assured me that I could 'treat' Barnsley branch or any other as 'my' bank because the electronic communication these days made it flexible. I was very happy with her explanation. I suppose things have moved on in banking. I didn't expect a branch manager to phone, much less be working on the shop floor dealing directly with customers. This impressed me very much. She said she was 'big' on customer service and proved it by being on the front line. So I'm highly impressed. Great customer service.
Ever since I moved to barnsley began noticing fraud on my account, and the situation was handled POORLY to say the least, scammers kept calling my phone any time I used the account but NatWest defended the CRIMINALS...! ODD. So I shut the account down permanently
Not one bit happy about closing local branches down,Busy branches i might add,Nearest Branch is 9 miles away.!!!!! Now paying in at local post office but money dosnt go threw till next day ,tried buying some Premium bonds but was declined 3 times as it my money hadnt gone threw same day as it was payed in at the post office,so will try again tomorrow.Nat west is not looking after Loyal Customers just them selves,When the advert comes on the TV i just laugh and think what a load of Bullocks.This Bank has made peoples life harder.......
I try to contact my bank and get an 0845 number to dial, An automated system is the most irritating thing to hear, all i want is to speak to a real live person at my bank, someone who can answer a few simple questions, without going through option 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. As if they don't make enough damn money of us all to be able to employ a few members of staff that are actually stationed at the actual bank itself. its disgusting, I wouldn't rate any banks at the moment, we need a "PEOPLES BANK" maybe i should open one myself. Any one interested ?
