I've been told many a time to visit Mumtaz in Leeds but New Years Eve was my First Experience and BOY did I enjoy it! The atmosphere in there is Amazing, the Decor outstanding and they even have mini Photo Booths for those who like taking Photos... The Food was Divine. I would recommend the Mixed Platter Starter for sure.
1. Mixed Grill starts where nice and spicy too really enjoyed 2. mains - the chicken steak was nice but not the lamb one and the mash was cold.. 3. The Mocktails where not nice stick to normal drink. 4. Interior and vibe in the place is really nice. 5. Parked on the main road. 6. take card payments
Booked ahead for Friday night and its in a great spot beside the Leeds Dock. Very fancy decor and as it states very much 'The Selfie Restaurant'. Unfortunately they don't serve alcohol but that aside it was nice. Our waitress Reena was lovely. The menu was slightly different to places we've visited before maybe as this is a "Majestic Kashmiri fine-dining" restaurant? Was OK but wouldn't rush to try again.
Decor is great and the place has a really nice feel to it, service was also on point. Shame the food was not worth the money at all! Ive had a sweaty takeaway more tastier than this, also the masala fish has bones in which we were not told when we initially ordered, best thing about Mumtaz is the mango lassi however i wouldn’t bother wasting any more of my time or money at this place. There used to be a time when they used to actually serve decent food but now its just tasteless.
The food however incredible we ordered the Platter and it was excellent value for money. The dessert selection is endless as well. We couldn't finish all the food so had it to take away. I will definitely visit again. The restaurant was at capacity which resulted in the service being slightly slow but this was expected.Food: 5/5
Lovely ambience and service. The food was hit and miss. Ordered keema paratha and seekh kebabs for starters. The paratha was good but the kebab was not. Ordered lamb karahi and nihari for mains. The lamb karahi was good but the Nihari was totally disappointing, very thin and runny curry with no flavour and hardly any meat. The garlic coriander naan and the garlic naan both were good.
Came in without a booking and got seated straight away. The staff are friendly and there was a nice atmosphere. We ordered for starters the samosa chaat, masala fish 500g and chops. The food came out really quick, within five minutes actually which makes me wonder that most of the stuff has to be half cooked before hand and finished off when an order comes through. But to be fair they tasted nice. Then for mains we ordered chicken biryani chicken karahi and tarka daal with plain naan and cheese naan. The naans were nice and soft. The chicken karahi was good, and the daal was ok, not full of flavour however the biryani was cold. It was a let down to be honest. We ordered the Lahore, Delhi and goa mocktails which we enjoyed, and have to say was the best part of the meal. Would I come back, probably not as there are lot more places that serve better quality food. However the service was good so the get a few extra brownie points.
Really nice atmosphere, very nice decor and location is good. Food was great and service was spot on. Very friendly staff, imran was excellent And reasonable priced too.
Ramadan Iftari So I am business traveller and also a keen foodie as are my family. I was up in Leeds on business and rather than eat in the chain restaurants near the centre I took a lovely fifteen minute walk. The walk alone is something to savour, taking you through the redeveloped industrial buildings that still give you a rich sense of history. The restaurant itself is set along the side of the Leeds and Liverpool canal. Lovely! The restaurant is excellent, they didn't mind I was a single diner some restaurants leave you next to the kitchen or toilets but not here. It was Ramadan and I was there at iftari. They provided complementary dates and fruits. The vibe was very Middle Eastern almost as if I was in a resort on holiday. I ordered a variety of starters and they have a great range and some special dishes. Do give the chicken liver and the chaat dishes a go. This is unique for an Asian restaurant, very much north Indian and Pakistani food. It's authentic quality not like many restaurants run by Bangladeshis that give you a generic sauce and disguise the quality of their ingredients. You don't come here to eat popodoms that makes you thirsty to buy lots of alcohol. This is all about the food, I was satisfied but not bloated. I recommend the pink kashmiri tea instead of a desert. A nice finisher. Worth coming to Leeds just for this restaurant. Forgot to mention the price. I'm gym London and this was literally half the cost of what I would pay in London. Even Gordon Ramsey would approve.
Great Decor, surprisingly top-notch for a Desi restaurant in Leeds. No wonder it was visited by the Queen. Food portions were very good and everything was delicious
