Morrisons in Taunton is not the most pleasant supermarket to shop in. The overall vibe feels dark and a bit damp, which makes the experience less inviting compared to other stores in town.nnThe food selection is also underwhelming. While you can find the basics, there is nothing that really stands out or feels exciting to buy, and the quality does not feel as good as other supermarkets nearby.nnIt works if you just need to grab something quickly, but for a better shopping experience and fresher options, there are stronger choices elsewhere.
I honestly don't know why anyone shops here. I'd have second thoughts on doing my weekly shop here even if I had a hefty employee discount and had to walk a mile across town to Sainsbury's at the end of my shift. If you shop here you should have more self respect, choose a better supermarket.nAnyway, I popped in for a wee because Morrisons is conveniently located on my route back from the train station. The first problem was that the gents were taped off and unavailable. In retrospect I really should have taken a photo. I took issue with the standard of the workmanship of whoever applied said tape. It looked like a toddler tried to gift-wrap chaos. Definitely a product of a 'that'll do' mindset.nThe disabled toilets were available initially I thought luckily. With reference to my first photo, apparently the toilet had been cleaned 30 minutes ago, or at least signed off as acceptably clean. It was not. I'm not going to blow it out of proportion and say that the was awful. It wasn't like there was excrement everywhere. But there was a liberal scattering of rubbish across the room, an empty soap dispenser and no paper towels. It all led to me feeling taunted by that signature. More of the 'that'll do' mindset that I mentioned earlier. And it just seemed to sum up everything that's wrong with the Morrisons brand at the moment. Who-ever signed that piece of paper has clearly given up and stopped caring. From that point forward I became acutely aware that so had 50% of the customers and 90% of the staff.nI will make reference to the unusual stench of wee as I think it warrants mention. It wasn't the 'normal' toilet smell that as a 45 year old man I've become desensitized to, more like mildly buttered popcorn that’s been left out in the sun too long—slightly sweet, but carrying the unmistakable hint of something that just shouldn’t be there. Someone needs to sort that out. The rest is just a lost cause.nI would have given a one-star review, but I've added an extra star for the tempting deal on an egg chair that I saw as I left the shop.
The breakfast is cheap and cheerfulnStaff are friendly and obviously you can get food there...nThis is where it ends, this is not a clean store at all. The toilets look like something from a dystopian film where they've been left alone to rot for 5 years.nThe tables in the cafe could be cleaner and no ketchup in a cafe that's based...in a supermarketnEvery single coffee machine out of order. 3 in the cafe and somehow even the Costa one in the store. Yeah it serves its purpose but could be better
Bring a Tesco girl I found it a bit hard to find the stuff on my dad's shopping list. But I loved this place. They even have their own brand of reduced sugar marmalade, sometimes you can't even get the named brand in Tesco. Had a lot of fun in the clothes area and all the other bits that you don't normally see except in Lidl or Aldi. Cafe was great. Dad enjoyed his breakfast and the price was great for the amount of food he got.
Avoid, it's dirty, it's poorly stocked, prices constantly going up more than other supermarkets.nStaff in canteen Rude, when they can actually tear themselves away from private conversations.
