This is a very nice hotel-restaurant with excellent food. I came in wet and muddy while hiking and yet the staff were friendly and accomodating. The lounges looked comfortable and homely. However, don't expect a quiet meal/stay because this is a hotel that caters specifically to families with children (obvious from all the child-size wellies by the door).

I've been fortunate to have travelled around the world for work, and as a result I've spent a fair bit of time in hotels! I can honestly say that our short stay at the Moonfleet Manor ranks among the best hotel stays I've ever enjoyed. Due to its age and history, the hotel has a bit of a labyrinthine quality to it. The decor is quirky and often a bit random, but it all makes for a very pleasant environment. The location is absolutely superb, nestling down by the coast, doubtless protected from the sea winds to a certain extent by Chesil beach. Even though we visited in the snowy spring months, the gardens all seem to be well-maintained and I imagine it's a lovely place to sit in the summer sun. The facilities are generally very good in the hotel. There are spacious lounges to sit and chat (or take afternoon tea), an on-site spa, swimming pools and huge indoor play area for the kids. There are lots of thoughtful touches all over the hotel. Simple things like complimentary water in the lounges, a big tub of buckets and spades that you can borrow for the beach, treasure-hunt games to keep children amused, etc. all contribute to the feeling that the hotel actually cares if you enjoy your stay. The food in the restaurant was really excellent; well-presented and very tasty. Some people might find the portion sizes slightly small, but for me they were just right. This food isn't about eating lots, it's about eating well. Whatever you do, save space for dessert! Of course, all of these positive points would be for nought if it weren't for the staff. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. Reception was friendly and helpful and escorted us to our room whilst giving us a mini-tour of the main facilities on the way. The restaurant staff were attentive but not intrusive and everything felt very efficient without us feeling rushed at any point, even though the place was busy. Nothing felt like it was a problem for any of the team there. They made us feel valued as guests and it seemed that nothing was too much trouble. We had a small problem (not the fault of the hotel) and the ladies at reception went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. It was our first stay at the Moonfleet Manor. We've already recommended it to a number of friends and we'll certainly be returning for another special occasion.

Brought my nan and family here for an afternoon tea last Thursday. Wonderful hotel in a stunning location with fantastic views. Couldn't fault the staff and the food was simply amazing. Thank you for making my nan's 80th birthday so memorable.

Lovely family hotel with great food and great facilities. Our nearly two year old especially enjoyed the toddler and bigger kids play area and we all enjoyed the pool. This was our second visit and doubt it will be our last. The baby listening service is one of the reasons we chose to stay, as well as the pool which is at three depths. The only reason I've given four instead of five stars is due to the cleanliness. Our bathroom floor, the shared toilets and the floor /area around the kids play area could be cleaner/dp with some tlc.

Great facilities and very friendly staff! A great place to bring the whole family, with plenty of activities for everyone. There is a lovely pool, tennis courts, table tennis, pool, air hockey, a climbing wall, football, bowling, trampolines and nice comfortable lounges to relax with the family.
