Overall, we had a really good experience here. We had a party of 16 and the service was excellent, especially for a fairly busy Saturday night. Drinks were great and well made. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, the food is what dropped the score to what would have been 5 stars down to a respectable 4. I had a prawn tempura appetizer and a steak. The prawns were nothing special, but were good. The steak was good, but had some burnt crispy things on it and I couldn't identify what they were. Very small portion of chipsfries came with it. Two in our party had the fish and chips and were woefully underwhelmed. Both said the fish and batter was flavorless. One only consumed about half and was just frustrated by the lack of flavor. I'm not sure how the others in our party fared with their meals. Splitting the bill was a mess too. The last person to pay, had to cover what was left. We like the place and I'm sure we'll be back, but will try some other meals next time. Other positives...the car park is huge and there is lots of seating if you include the outdoor seating area.
A lovely country pub located in the picturesque village of Barnwell. Only popped in for a pint but will certainly sample the food menu in the near future. Several real ales on usually with one or two from the local Digfield Brewery as they are also located in Barnwell. Nice decor inside and attentive staff, worth a visit.
This is the second time of visiting this pub, the first time it was fantastic, the second not so fantastic, in fact very disappointed. I know that places struggle to cater when it comes to Mothers Day etc…, I had higher hopes for this place from experience, but No, the same as everywhere else, a limited, drab menu. The food was ok, I could do better at home myself, and I’m no chef. Sorry guys, like everywhere else avoid for a special mass occasion. Not even the front of house staff could turn this one around, as good as they are. But to end on a positive, what a village!
This is a traditional pub in a beautiful village. We received a very warm welcome & the service was efficient with no wait to be served. Outside is a lovely pub garden, camping area & large car park. A pleasant place to have a drink & some lunch. The food is exceptional! I had the Monty Burger which had a generous two burgers & tasted delicious! Highly recommended.
We had a very good Sunday lunch here. The food was lovely. Being popular, the dining room was full and busy, and was really quite loud when we first arrived. Fortunately, it quietened down after a few tables emptied and we were then able to have a conversation and hear each other. The service wasn't quite as good as the food.
Wonderful food, all beautifully cooked and sticky toffee pudding was to die for! Plenty of people in the restaurant especially for a Monday night so there was a satisfying buzz around and it was a perfect place to catch up with a friend.
Absolutely our favourite place to visit at the minute. We are never rushed, the food is always amazing and the service is on point!
If you’re not a regular, you’re not welcome. No customer service, repeatedly ignored, the food was cold and really poor quality. Very disappointed, won’t be returning. There are much better pubs in the surrounding areas.
Super meal, lovely surroundings, attentive staff. What more could you want? Nothing bad to say. Very reasonably priced too! The white chocolate crème brûlée was so amazing I took one home for my daughter. I’ll pop the ramekin back soon and book in for lunch again . Highly recommend.
Lovely location. Great menu. Brilliant Chef. Well cooked, presented & Innovative dishes...visually exciting & tastes wonderful. Highly recommend a visit. Guarantee you will return. Booking necessary at lunch times and/on weekend and for dinner...its that good!!!
