A really stunning location on an island in the Thames. The buildings that make up the hotel are rather beautiful too. Service was impeccable. Breakfast was a bit pedestrian and I'd not visit again in the winter, as the room was really quite cold. That said, the double aspect was lovely, and the peacock that visited our balcony (which all but overhang the river) was the highlight of the stay. Would come again, but only in the summer!

Monkey Island is an enchanted private isle, washed by the swirling currents of the narrow Thames, reached by a beautiful cantilevered bridge. Set among manicured lawns, where peacocks swagger and utter their mysterious calls, the hotel and the stuccoed lodges glitter in the clear light. The dining experience, ballroom, the services and the accommodation are all wonderful. Particularly recommended is roasting yourself in front of the beautiful log fire in the smoking (no smoking allowed!) room, maybe after gorging yourself to satiety with a massive three or four course meal. Then dancing to electronic music in the dance salon. Highly recommended.

It's a very beautiful and magical place to have a family and friends reunion. We had our wedding on this island and all our families and friends absolutely loved the island. It was fully exclusive to the event and everyone had an unforgettable wedding. I still remembered the 1st time when I saw the island when we were picking a wedding venue. All the staff members are very friendly and the wedding organiser - Denise is a very experienced, friendly, lovely and easy going person to deal with. It makes the organisation simpler. We also had mothers' day at the island, and a couple of other visits during the year. Every time was a pleasure, calm and wonderful experience. We highly recommend to the public, especially couples for seeking UK wedding locations. Best Penny

With a name like that, the scene was already set for a memorable escape from the city. The island setting was perfectly lovely and the wandering peacocks added to the historical feel of the place. However, whilst the Wedgewood Suite was absolutely beautiful - 270 degree views of the gardens, a four-poster bed and very spacious - the rest of the venue had a bit of a tired conference centre feel to it in comparison. We ordered room service so didn't have dinner there, but if breakfast is anything to go by (very average with overcooked sausage and bacon more reminiscent of a cheap cafe than a fancy hotel) that was perhaps no bad thing.
