Great local gym. I have been a member since it opened and regularly attend 3 times a week. It has all of the equipment I need and loads of different exercise classes running daily. It's a family run business operating with fully trained, friendly and helpful staff.
This gym is decent, yet lacking in some areas. Only having one full-sized barbell is not acceptable - particularly when the smaller one doesn't fit on the frame, and people always use the bigger one whether they're using the frame or not. Even in a small gym, I don't think that saying there isn't enough space for another barbell is a good enough excuse - it's the manager's job to work around problems such as this. Any standard weights frame should be able to hold two barbells, and the bars in the gym have their own holding station. That is more than enough space for two full-sized barbells along with the specialised bars. There is also no water refill station, which I would consider a basic requirement of any fitness facility. Although health and safety advised about the problem with hygiene, there are types of water stations which work by setting the bottle down, thereby avoiding contact with the nozzle. If people keep doing it, put up a sign saying not to. Additionally, every gym and university I've ever visited has had water refill stations. If they can all find a way to resolve this issue, I don't see why you cannot also. I was also treated quite rudely by a member of staff when I asked if they could get another full-sized barbell, despite it being a perfectly reasonable request and having asked very politely. I hope that this is an isolated incident, and not an underlying issue with customer service. Unfortunately I have seen no evidence to suggest that these issues are being fixed, but I hope that the owner will take steps to improve the facility in the future.
Just joined what a cracking local gym with plenty of up to date equipment, that is always clean, friendly staff and a great selection of classes available although I personally just use the gym. Also brilliant to see a Defibrillator installed.
