"Milnes Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal and a pint in the heart of Edinburgh. Find some quiet away from the bustling Hanover Street and Rose Street in the New Town area of Edinburgh. With a variety of pub classics on the menu, as well as 37 Single Malt Scottish whiskies, there's something for everyone. The pub is also dog-friendly, with a beer garden and live music from a variety of talented acts."

We arrived at Milnes Bar on our first day in sunny Edinburgh for a mid-week break. The staff were very friendly and attentive and our meals were delicious. We enjoyed a few relaxing refreshments and it was great to see so many locals catching up with each other after the tough few years we have all had! We highly recommend this bar/restaurant and will definitely visit again next time we are in Edinburgh 10/10
Visited last week while we were on vacation with no idea what to eat. Amber recommended the fish and chips and Steak and Ale pie and we’re so glad she did! The food was great, beers were cold and the service made us want to come again! Thanks for the hospitality!
Good atmospheric bar with nice food . The fish and chips is good for me but all depends on your own tastebud. Do give it a try . Staffs are friendly as well . Bar itself has basement seating to accommodate more people as well.
Edit: from 4 to 5*. I much appreciate when business pay attention to the reviews and want to improve. Cheers!! Fast and friendly service. Food arrived within less than 10 minutes and it was delicious!
Wonderful atmosphere, amazing open fire to warm you up on these cold winter days. Staff warm and friendly. Great selection of drinks available. Food was fantastic! Highly recommended a visit
Rank. Expensive beer. Really slow food service, cold when it arrived despite the waiter trying to convince us the plate was really hot - it wasn’t. The mash was sticky and crusty. The sausages were dry and horrible tasting. The gravy was worse. The greens were rubbish. How do you screw up sausage and mash so badly? Well, this place has the secret. I’d never in a month of Sundays return. And it wasn’t even busy for such slow service and I think I know why; people have voted with their feet. The place itself is grubby. They advertise delicious fish and chips, believe at your own risk.
Great place for fantastic food. Service is absolutely excellent and very attentive. A really authentic Scottish pub. Had fish and chips and the sticky toffee pudding, which was a real treat. Great range of beers and were also fortunate to find a table despite not booking ahead on a Saturday evening. Will be back again the next time on Edinburgh.
Fantastic pub stepped in rich history. The steak and ale pie was a real culinary delight.
Very nice Guinness! High octave ambience street level, down stairs more sociable and relaxing. Nice visit this time around, but beware of not so hygienically prepared surfaces and toilets
Nice choice of beer but not very impressed by my food. Ordered a chicken and bacon sandwich which was not great. My chips didn't arrive and had to ask for them. Another of my friends had to ask for her chips which also did no,appear When they did come they were not the rosemary chips she ordered. Would go back for drinks but not sure if I would have food again.
