This is a highly recommended place for a sophisticated atmosphere at an affordable price. Saturday nights feature a live jazz show that can make conversation challenging, but it’s definitely enjoyable. The menu offers enough variety, and I had the butter chicken with rice—an impressively generous portion for the price. Service was prompt and attentive. While smart casual attire isn’t mandatory, it’s a good idea, as the restaurant suits formal styles. Overall, it’s a great choice for a lovely night out.
Unfortunately, my recent experience at Millie’s was quite disappointing. Despite the appealing ambiance and live music though barely audible from the restaurant, the dining experience fell far short of expectations. Firstly, the service was frustratingly slow and unprofessional. After being seated, we experienced long delays, with over an hour wait between the starter and main course. To make matters worse, they brought out completely incorrect orders at one point. One of the most concerning issues was that a pregnant friend had specific dietary restrictions that were carefully explained to the waiter multiple times. However, her meal arrived with the very ingredients she had explicitly asked to avoid. This was not only careless but unacceptable. As for the food, it was mostly underwhelming. We ordered a variety of dishes, including cheese soufflé, Caesar salad, beetroot salad, cheeseburger, curry chicken, and mushroom pie. The cheese soufflé and curry chicken with rice were the only highlights, being well-prepared and tasty. The mushroom and squash pie, however, was a disappointment, with spinach and lentils replacing the main ingredients listed on the menu — something the staff failed to explain. The cheeseburger was bland and not enjoyable. While the atmosphere might be pleasant for drinks, I don’t believe it’s worth dining at Millie’s, given the poor service and inconsistent food quality. Save your money and opt for the drinks instead, as the overall dining experience leaves much to be desired.
You really can’t go wrong with any restaurants in The Ned, the service and food quality are consistently high and amazing value for money for premium end of dining experiences. There’s nothing needed to be written about the restaurant/bar/hotel ambience - it’s something you just need to go experience like Big Ben or Tower Bridge :
The infamous bottomless sunday lunch. Never ending lobster, salad, roast dinner and puds- tbf it was awesome. Food was really tasty , amazing beef! Great atmosphere with the Neds usual jazzy piano, drum and singer attempting to lighten up one of the prettiest but acoustic or worse dining rooms in the city Service could be better , i say this really because of the large service charge they add . We were forgotten about af billing stage and were in a rush to leave for train, annoying had a glass broken on our table , slow on clearing the dirties etc
Lovely spot to get lunch. The ancient architecture and reputable service is a reminder of the history the building bestows. Food was good and not an exorbitant price. I had a proper Full English Breakfast, cappuccino, Bloody Mary, and some Royal Eggs Benedict. Lovely experience Food: 5/5
The building is grand with all the marble and art deco features. Before afternoon tea we sat at one of the bar areas and enjoyed cocktails made with sustainable ingredients and a very friendly and informative barman Simon?? Afternoon tea was a delight! Tasty sandwiches that can be replenished once. Nice choice of teas. Dimitar, our waiter, entertained us with the history of the building and why the little cakes represented items found in a bank 100 years old, happy birthday the Ned. I would like to thank Dimitar for his attentiveness, his presence was notable and professional. Would definitely recommend to friends and colleagues!
Loved this place. Like a fancy grand school canteen. The service was amazing! But the food was a disappointment as there was hardly any vegetarian bar snacks. So we had to leave to eat else where. But great cocktails! Would visit for a short couple drinksFood: 2/5
One of prettiest restaurants I’ve been. The service was the best and the food was great! I had the best cheese soufflé while there, highly recommended it for appetizers!Food: 5/5
Beautiful hotel, great food. I ordered the smoked salmon and scrambled egg, the eggs were beautifully colored. I didn’t try the buffet but really wish we did, it looked so beautiful!!Food: 5/5
Just amazing. Brought my young children here for Fathers Day and it was sublime. Exceeded my expectations and the service was perfect. I’ll be dreaming of the Lobster Macaroni and Cheese for months. Can’t wait to rebook and come again, such a treat.
