3 years ago I enrolled for a course and was given a start date. After the start date I still wasn’t given a timetable. Strung me along for 3 months before cancelling the course after constantly calling for updates and being told they would not cancel. I paid privately for the course elsewhere. My wife has been given a start date for her course and as we are past the start date now, still doesn’t have a clue when the course actually starts. Daughter was supposed to have an interview, still hasn’t. All in all, it’s the communication here that is very poor. You have to constantly chase. You can not get any kind of helpful information. This place needs a massive shake up.
Echo the experiences with Bibbnya's below, with the lack of support for Special Needs, and ignoring the Equalities Act 2010. If Chris Blackman who had same experience with his son wants to join up with us for group damages legal action against this College, please feel free to DM me on Facebook. From the amount of ppl complaining about the approach to SEND, would say it is a deliberate, systemic approach by the college, and especially the Management. The College have been horrendous, coercive in manner, to deflect and stop the complaint. They mark their own homework on complaints. Censorship and gaslighting from them. The college failed my son, would not put in place his EHCP, and abandoned him - terrible course, lack of support and teaching, ignored his EHCP and would not implement it. They covered up our complaint and bullied us under the radar, into dropping it. And that was from the college complaints manager and also principal Mr Cook. And then got Google to delete our previous review. Given some of the previous comments about lack of help and support for Special Needs on the reviews, see we are not alone. Having to consider taking legal damages retrospective action against the College and the LA as my son has been left without a future, viable qualifications and is now jobless. The College abandon people and won't help them career wise. Their adherence to help people is a sham. They are a business and appear mainly in it, for themselves. And their request to contact them is just surface. They just want to maintain their reputation over rights of others. They have potentially breached my son's legal rights, and their apparent neglect has ruined his life, and they don't care. They only care about their own existence.
So sad to read all these negative reviews, but not surprised. I think you'll find they got rid of all their specialist teachers a few years ago, so anyone with educational support needs can no longer get specialist teaching. I hope OFSTED look at this really closely and does not allow 'OFSTED lessons' to hide what is actually going on. There were some fantastic teachers there but the following September they had all gone. Rumour is that the college decided they weren't needed any more.
For all of those people who say negative things about not being able to have their disabled kids being taken cared of properly, it has all changed now they have a new program called enhanced and they actually help people with and EHCP and as a student with an EHCP plan and attending the course e sports level 2 I find this college really great to be honest, my decision for my course was my best choice so far I have been having a great time over these past few months as a new student within this college I recommend this college to all that are trying to attend it because of how great it actually is
I attended MidKent College from 2020 to 2022, and I must say, it was an incredibly disappointing experience. As someone with ADHD and autism, I found the environment to be far from supportive or understanding of my needs.nDuring my time there, I was constantly accused by teachers of doing things I didn't do. This was incredibly frustrating and made me feel unfairly targeted. While Level 1 Performing Arts was somewhat bearable, Level 2 was an absolute nightmare. The lack of support and understanding from the staff made it a very challenging and unpleasant experience.nI left the college on 30th June 2022, and I was relieved to be done with it. Unfortunately, my brother, who also has ADHD and autism, currently attends MidKent College. He is 18 years old, and they treat him like a child. It's disheartening to see that the college hasn't improved in its approach to supporting students with additional needs.nOverall, I would not recommend MidKent College to anyone, especially those with ADHD, autism, or other special needs. The lack of understanding and support from the staff makes it a very difficult environment to thrive in.
