Kings Cross St Pancras  £5.80 Guinness One of London’s finest Irish pubs. . Tucked away in the backstreets of Kings Cross and away from tourists and travellers fresh off the train is McGlynn’s Free House. The nearest Tube is Kings Cross St Pancras which is just a few minutes walk away. . This pub was built in 1851 and started life as The Duke of Wellington. The pub is Grade II listed and is surrounded by characterful Victorian buildings on cobbled streets, this makes this area one of the most atmospheric parts of Kings Cross. . The decor here is oldschool traditional and features trinkets and items that nod to Ireland’s past. This one bar pub is set out in an “L” shape and has a cosy feel to it. The walls are painted cream and have all manner of bric-a-brac hanging from them including a beautiful wooden clock bearing the pubs name. There is plenty of seating which is a mixture of red leather banquettes, pews and low level tables and chairs. The hallmark of any proper old school boozer is a red carpet, McGlynn’s didn’t disappoint. One observation is that this pub is immaculately clean. . The beer line up was good and included two cask ales, normally there are three available. No visit to an Irish pub would be complete without trying the Guinness. We all really enjoyed our pints, one of the best I’ve had for some time, and reasonably priced. The pub has served food in the past but isn’t serving food at present. . We arrived just after 6pm on a Saturday evening. As you walk in you immediately feel the friendly vibe that is ever present here. The pub was busy with a mix of locals, a few travellers and those in the know. We were served by a very welcoming member of staff who served us in no time at all. I was with my Brother and Nephew who were visiting McGlynn’s for the first time, they absolutely loved everything about the pub. . @mcglynnskingscross is one of the best Irish pubs in London. The welcome, the atmosphere, the decor and architecture and of course the @guinness will keep you coming back for more. This is a must visit London pub, Slainté. . ℹ Info correct on visiting 22/07/23
Food service has been discontinued for the time being. This is a lovely pub for a pint. They pour Guiness all day so the cask stays fresh. Some good dry cider is available as well.
Lovely pub, great atmosphere sat outside on a quiet side street just 5 mins walk from Kings Cross. Very reasonably priced - £20 or so for three pints and a double gin and tonic. Staff were all pleasant and we managed to get some nice toasties £5 in the evening despite them being on the lunch menu. Excellent all round.
One of my favourite pubs in London. A very unusual atmosphere, very friendly and nice, almost familiar. I would like to have this pub next to my home. Really and unexpected stunning place. Inside but you are feeling like outside of London.
My Fave London Pub With Mouth Watering English Traditional Dishes of Exceptional Value & Quality. My review of this hidden gem of a pub tucked away in an oasis of calm just minutes from the hustle & bustle of King's Cross was overdue by about ten years! and is so worth seeking out. Part of its charm is that to my recollection the decor has remained virtually unchanged since at least the 1990's when I first encountered Mc Glynns when I still worked in the rail industry at Bounds Green Depot. I just love the setting and the location, which tends to attract mainly local people, and even when busy is not the usual jam packed atmosphere of some pubs. In the last ten years or so I have occasionally had one of the excellent pub meals, this for sure will now become more frequent. I so need to work my way round the entire menu! On 27th June I arranged to meet my cousin Richard who I last met in 2012 during the Olympics and suggested this pub, I so wanted an excuse to eat here again! The meal was to die for. We both opted for Cumberland Sausages, mash, peas, fried onions with gravy DELICIOUS. Then for puddings one was not enough! I had lovely apple crumble with custard followed by a delicious naughty but very nice New York cheesecake, with three scoops of ice-cream. There is nothing to beat home cooked traditional ENGLISH food, which is more often quite a novelty these days.
Traditional Irish pub in downtown London. Kind servers, good beer and comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. Cool place to 'check in'!Service: 5/5
Cracking Irish boozer on a quiet back street. Great staff and reasonable beer selection. I drank Ghost Ship from cask and it was very well kept. Just £4.50 a pint too, which is good for Central London, near mainline stations. The outside space makes it perfect for groups with good weather. Just watch out for cyclists!
Nice friendly place for quick cheap healthy fix food. Glad that the other diners are courteous enough not to smoke in the pub.
Good atmosphere, great service! Lovely outside seating.
Very close to King's Cross Station Good waiting room for the train. Very friendly staff and customer's London prices say no more . A good pint or two
