Story

Established in 1993 when the late David Benjamin joined forces with Peter Matthews following the disposal of the longstanding and well regarded five office practice of Thompson Matthews. Matthews Benjamin has earned an excellent reputation based on trust, expertise and care, developed from a family business we are an independent estate agent, employing local people with an extensive knowledge and love of the local area. Matthews Benjamin originally opened in Windermere with subsequent expansion following the opening of our Ambleside office, securing a superb base for practicing in the central and southern Lake District. The company expanded further in 2006 when we took the opportunity of accepting an invitation to join the prestigious Fine & Country network, representing the brand across the Lake District and North Lancashire. This has enabled us to deliver a specialist level of service within the upper quartile of the market with additional offices in Lancaster and Kendal, growing on our experience and reputation in dealing with quality properties. In 2013 Matthews Benjamin Lancaster opened its doors to offer an unrivalled service for the mid-range property market in and around the North Lancashire area.

Complimented by our Fine & Country offices in Kendal and Lancaster. Our main area of practice is within the southern and central Lake District and covers the main centres of Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness-on-Windermere including the surrounding areas of Hawkshead, Coniston, Newby Bridge, Staveley, Grasmere and Troutbeck.
