Our experience of dealing with Lillingtons in Whitehaven was that they where very poor throughout. The property that was rented though them was a flat in a residential block. It was dirty and had not been cleaned when the tenancy began, this was despite being told by Lillingtons that it had been deep cleaned. Food was found behind beds and cupboards, kitchen cupboards where dirty and greasy, used underwear was found in a draw along with other personal belongings.The hoover did not work and tenant had to immediately go out and purchase another, the oven and fridge where not clean. Mattresses stained. The toilet seat was broken and the tenant had to immediately replace. Tenant had to carry out 2 hours of cleaning before being able to move in. When tenant notified Lillingtons they did nothing. Lillingtons had a policy of quarterly inspections of the property which carried on throughout the whole tenancy, this was continually intrusive taking away from the tenants right to fully enjoy the property. Such inspections were often cancelled at the last minute without notice or took place without prior agreement when the tenant was not there. When a boiler engineer was sent to the property it was unannounced. He was given a key which he used to gain entry whilst the tenant a young woman was in the shower and alone in the property breaching the tenants rights and breaching the contract. At the end of the tenancy they demanded an extra months rent despite being told within the contract time that the tenant intended to vacate. They stated they had found some dry water marks on the kitchen floor and the oven was not clean. As the tenant was unable to return to the property due to being at work they advised they would take £100 from the deposit for a cleaner. The oven was in a better condition than when the tenancy began and the water marks where from a floor wipe ! A cleaner costs £10 an hour and the flat was left in a very clean condition with many things having been fixed and replaced during the tenancy non of which was reimbursed. The flat was cleaned both on the day of the move and again 2 days later before returning keys. Lillingtons approach was extremely unprofessional and arguably exploitative of the tenant. The Tenant felt as though her rights where undermined throughout the tenancy… not a company to deal with !
I purchased a house from a person who was using Lillingtons to sell their house and I asked them to get a damp report done which they did by damp stop. The person who I was dealing with at Lillingtons asked me if I minded getting the work completed after their cliant had moved out which I wasn't really but they Lillingtons assured me damp stop were good and would def complete the work but guess what I got the keys for my house and 7 month later the work as still not been done and have received no payment from damp stop. Anyone reading this just be careful if they say the same to you, I'm £1500 out of pocket because I trusted Lillingtons.
Twice I have sold through Lillingtons & once I have purchased . Each time I have sold I have had a buyer extremely quickly , with a hassle free transaction . The Team especially Julie can't do enough to help . I will always recommend Lillingtons to anyone I know who is selling or buying . Keep up the great work .
the worst estate agents i have ever came across, our valuation appointment was cancelled & rearranged for another day, it took 1 week to reduce our asking price in the window, charged £165 in termination fees to which another week we were quoted £138. We moved to the cumberland estate agents after 10 weeks.
I have nothing but praise for all the staff at the Whitehaven office. Iain, Jo, Lisa, Julie, Angelina and Ryan you have all done an amazing job. You have kept me informed every step of the way and taken a lot off pressure off me. I have no hesitation in recommending Lillington's. They are first class! Thankyou all.
