Arrived here for a quick meal before heading home. We were told by staff that wait for food would be 30-40 minutes which I found puzzling because it wasn’t really busy. However the food came rather quickly. Staff are nice and friendly so if in the area for my next trip to Manchester will call in here.
I go to the matchstick quite often all the staff are great can't do enough for you make you feel welcome it's definitely a good place to have a laugh some nice food at affordable prices. You want some grub an few pints it's great they got multiple televisions for the football and you can really relax!
Visited The Matchstick Man a few times now, everytime I've been the staff are really really friendly, the outside seating area is great, the food is on par for the price, can't fault a Wednesday Curry Club, £6.50 with a pint the average pint is £5.50 so a Curry for a pound is fantastic, will try Steak Club on Monday and update, overall its a lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere
Was recommended after church on Sunday with the assurance I could get a nice Sunday Dinner. Will definitely recommend to others. Found the food to be nice, and the other 2 with me thought the same. Good range of drinks for those who like a beer and those who don't. Mine was the beer . And made to feel very welcomed by the staff. Will come back soon. And at least I now know you have a car park. Had to walk a long way to get there just to get the tram back. Another positive. Tram stop is almost at the front door.
Visited for the first time post lockdown yesterday and food was absolutely lovely, really enjoy ordering through the app, very efficient. Only negative thing I have to say is about the garlic bread, the new style has less cheese, quite tough to bite into too. It was a little charred in areas, such a disappointment compared to the amazing ones they were serving pre lockdowns photos below ones I have taken, and are from 2020 and then 2020, you can tell which is which.
Food is lovely but the service is ridiculously slow, waited over an hour for our meals and the pub wasn't full by any means. Edit to respond to the team that replied below... Everything is excellent, staff helpful, clean pub and the food was lovely , it's just our order was so very slow to arrive. Fix that and it would be five stars....
To start really nice staff but for me the food was cold and my step dad's mash was hard. We had a blue light card and she didn't even take the discount off
This now my new regular eating place .. the food is absolutely amazing gotta give credit too the chef and co for the top quality cooked food . Very reasonable on price not expensive at all . deals are on all week aswel .. staff are absolutely amazing especially LITTLE JOE behind the bar .. YES YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE LITTLE JOE lol . You and the twins are the backbone of that establishment.. you always make us feel welcomed and put a smile on are faces .. door staff are very polite and open doors for you upon and exit of the premise. Thumbs up to those guys on how professional and welcoming they are ...
Reasonably priced food with good offers but food somewhat lacking in quality. The nacho starter was very good and our fries were good but although our burgers tasted good they were very tough/dry on one edge and I feel this was possibly due to being microwaved. Service was however good and staff very friendly.
Me and my fiance went to matchstick man to celebrate her finishing her placement. One step closer to becoming a primary school teacher. Our server was very friendly. Our cutlery was dropped of within seconds of us ordering. We also got a check back about 5 mins after our food was brought to us which is perfect an he was very friendly. We really enjoyed the food an I would definitely recommend it. As we were leaving we also got a friendly goodbye from the doorman that was on that night
