Under new management and now totally refurbished. Formally a pub with fishing ponds but now run solely as a B&B with wildlife friendly gardens set in stunning countryside.
Really friendly place. Room and en suite very clean and spacious, great views. Sarah and Roger made us feel very welcome and we had an excellent evening meal on the Friday night. Very good breakfast each morning served at a time to suit us. About 25 mins drive to Hay festival, perfect!
Very old fashioned smelly and beds covered in cat hairs, breakfast was at 08.45 which was far to late so didn't have the pleasure.
Such a fantastic stay. Couldn't recommend enough to anyone looking. Took a long detour to make this my stop off point on a whim and it paid off. Ignore the bad reviews, they're old. The place has been done up really nicely. The room was great, comfy bed, plenty of space and storage. Good tea selection and fresh milk in insulted jugs! Bathroom was spacious and bright. The candles were a lovely touch that made a bath even better. Finding the mirror can put out a similar warm light was a nice find. The breakfast was top notch. The glass of fruit, yogurt and granola to start was a winner for me.. fry up was delicious, I got the standard size one and was still outdone. The bar is well stocked with some nice spirits I didn't expect to see. No need for an evening pub unless you're dying for cask. I think I even saw a Guinness tap.. Ponds are sweet and make for a nice morning spot to watch Footpaths up the road for some walks, pub not that far away but Only regret is we had one night. Easily settle down for a few. Nigel & Tess are wonderful hosts who really have gone the extra mile. Stay here and stop looking around.
