This is a fantastic place to train, and Rob and the team make it really friendly, supportive and accessible for everyone. I started as a complete beginner and absolutely love it. Definitely recommend, especially for any ladies thinking about learning self-defence and trying something new - you'll find there's a warm welcome, and it's really fun too.
This has been the best JiuJitsu school I’ve ever trained at… and I’ve been to many, in about 4 different countries. There’s no “macho” feel to it. Anyone of any size or shape can come, learn at a steady pace, in a logical order and feel great about your progress every step of the way. This is where I would want every member of my family to train.
The instructors here are the most welcoming and knowledgeable that I have ever met. No egos, just a love for the art. A really friendly atmosphere and heavy ethos centred around the Gracie family.
Rob & Matt are both excellent instructors; Very friendly environment, not just because of the instructors but those who attend too, everyone’s welcoming & looking to help eachother progress. If you’re looking to get into Ju Jitsu, this is definitely the best place to go!
Shout out to all the legends here at Gracie BJJ Marple, especially Rob, Matt and a few others who run the classes, I have to say hands down if you’re looking to get fit whilst learning the fundamentals of self defence this is the GO TO for you, especially when you get to spend time with awesome people who all want to grow & improve their physical capabilities! There’s no ego what so ever and the people here will assure you become the best version of yourself through this sport!
Rob and Matt are amazing instructors, the atmosphere is very friendly and collegiate. If you have been thinking of starting bjj or self defence couldn't recommend Gracie Jiu Jitsu Marple enough.

Friendly, professional and expert teaching, whether you're 6 or 86 there are a multitude of ways this will help you in every day life such as: dexterity, flexibility, combat skills and building friendships. If you have no experience in grappling or are a seasoned grappler with years under your belt you will still be guaranteed to improve from the gracie jiu jitsu system as it focuses on street readiness, efficiency, timing and leverage. After your 10 day free trial you will see why so many people across the globe are getting hooked. Hope to see you on the mats.
As an "older" guy, I have found this is a perfect school to learn jiu-jitsu in a structured and safe way. First of all, there is a clear curriculum and excellent teaching methodology. This is especially important for beginners who need to have a solid base, rather than being overwhelmed with information. The instructors have all been taught HOW to teach, which is a skill in its own right. Secondly, safety is a top priority, and the instructors emphasise the need to be careful and to avoid reckless behaviour. There are no egoes or bullies, and everyone is there to help each other improve. And finally, the cleanliness and overall atmosphere is extremely professional yet superfriendly. Without being overly formal or rigid, there is nonetheless a level of decorum that keeps it all professional. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to learn, but has been put off by the behaviour or atmosphere in other clubs they may have tried.
