Went here for an afternoon tea that had been a gift. First impressions was that the decor was a bit worn, but the friendly and excellent service really gave us a lovely afternoon. Had 2 extra glasses of fizz that were very reasonably priced.
We went along to Marco Pierre Whites in Liverpool on Tuesday 29th of October 2024. We had regularly visited the restaurant in Glasgow a few years ago and were looking for the same high quality service, we weren't disappointed. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The customer service shown by our waiter Peter was outstanding and a real credit to the restaurant. His in depth knowledge of the menu and wine list gave us confidence on our decision. The level of attention he and other waiters gave us and other diners didn't drop when the restaurant filled with a large booking. The meal was excellent as anticipated which were steaks cooked to perfection. Overall this was a great dining experience and we will definitely visit again when we are next in Liverpool. A big thanks to all the staff at Marco Pierre Whites in Liverpool.
Disappointed with the afternoon tea. Came to Liverpool specifically for this afternoon tea which was bought as a gift. When booking I requested early but was advised on the phone the best time to come to avoid a wait for food was 3:15 so that’s what we booked. Arrived at 3:10 was seated straight away and asked if we would like our Prosecco which we accepted. When the drinks arrived a few minutes later we were asked for any alterations to the menu. We asked for no horseradish and no cucumber in the sandwiches. We then waited 30 minutes for the food to arrive which was a little excessive. When it did come we were disappointed, no macaroons, they had run out, no cream cheese sandwiches, a mix up on their part they thought we’d asked for no cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches instead of just no cucumber in the sandwiches. The tea itself was served on a wooden breadboard instead of a cake stand which swamped the small table leaving not much room for plates or drinks. Then we inquired about the missing items and 10 minutes later we were brought brownies to replace the macaroonsnot a favourite, I would have preferred the macaroons and cream cheese sandwiches. However there was no room on the table to put this plate down so I had to lift them off and place them on the breadboard myself while the waiter held it. After all this and 45 minutes after we arrived we were asked if we would like tea or coffee, it arrived when the majority of the meal was finished. The food itself was ok but nothing startling, I don’t eat meat but my husband said the ham and mustard sandwiches had that much mustard you couldn’t taste anything else. The scones were nice but tiny. I was really looking forward to this treat, I do like an afternoon tea but this was probably the worst I’ve had and one of the most expensive. I guess you pay for the name but certainly don’t pay for quality or service.
A simply delightful experience visiting indigo hotel for the first time. The staff went of and beyond to make you feel welcome. As for Marco Pierre White restaurant. I have enjoyed a rib eye in most restaurants in Liverpool. This however was simply the . Cooked to perfection. Simply delicious . Thank you to Peter, a font of knowledge advising you on the menu. Thank you for a great time. Not forgetting beautiful Eve. Thank you both for a lovely evening.
Very nice, friendly staff. Not busy at all, I was expecting it to be more vibrant, however it was early afternoon so I presume it would be busier in the evening. We were having afternoon tea, sandwiches were good and fresh, cakes were ok but the scones were so hard and stale that they were inedible. I spoke to the waiter about them and he said the chef would make some more. I asked if the chef actually made them and he said no, that they were frozen. I thought that was a shame considering how simple it is to make scones. They boxed some of the cakes up for us to take away and I asked for them to put a couple of extra in to compensate for the scones, which they did.
Delicious afternoon tea in a relaxed atmosphere and even a complimentary glass of Prosseco each. Happened to mention that I loved cucumber so I was delighted when they put extra cucumber on the cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches for me. But nothing at all was too much trouble for Jessica and the rest of the staff, who were all very pleasant, friendly and helpful, making it a very enjoyable afternoon. Recommended.
So this afternoon tea was booked via Red letter days so thankfully I did not pay full price as i don't even think it was even worth the price we did pay for it. Booked for 3:15 we were told there wouldn't be much of a wait for the food, which wasn't a priority as we had 2hrs take time, but were still waiting for over 30mins. We had a small table for two which shouldn't have been a problem, but they had run out of the sandwich stands apparently they only had 4!! so all our food was delivered on a wooden board and plates all at once which gave virtually no room on the table for us to comfortably eat. As for the food, we asked for no cucumber so they completely omitted the cream cheese sandwiches we should have had without it. The ham and mustard had so much mustard see photo you couldn't even taste the ham. They had run out of macaroons, not sure how you can run out when you know what bookings you have, but these were replaced with brownies, but not until we asked why we had none! The scones were nice but very small. It wasn't the amount of food although the ratio of sweet to savoury in my opinion was far too high but I have had far better afternoon teas elsewhere for less. Definitely felt like we were just paying for the name, and I think Marco Pierre should be appalled with this level of service.
Updated review 2nd May 2024. I’ve eaten here a number of times over the past few years – it was always good, solid choice offering well-cooked, consistent meals. The new spring/summer menu is disappointing, however. Marco restaurants have recently moved to a seasonal menu concept after several years of an unchanged menu – the autumn/winter menu was decent, although it did seem to be an excuse to reduce the number of core options on the menu Wheeler’s Fishcake and two of the burgers were removed, for example. This was my first visit following the introduction of the spring/summer menu and I have to say, I wasn’t impressed. The choice of starters is now quite weak, compared to comparators – the scotch egg is still on there, but you have to be in the mood for something like that and the spring/summer specials are particularly uninspired. I opted to try the new the tart of mushrooms – in theory that sounded very nice – a tart with mushrooms, egg and hollandaise. The reality was incredibly disappointing – a large and very thick tart base almost a pie, filled with a vinegary-tasting mushed mix of mushroom paste. Soft boiled egg and sauce on top. The tart itself was far too large for a starter, the base very dry and thick. Hard to eat and the Hollandaise couldn’t save it. I didn’t finish the tart and wouldn’t order this again – not at all what you’d expect. For the main I ordered the chicken forestierre – previously experience with this dish has been very positive – well-cooked chicken with potato, mushrooms and spinach. Last night’s version all felt a bit no-effort though – the chicken was ok, the potato seemed more like a chunk of basic-boiled potato than the previous version and there were barely any mushrooms. Appreciate the restaurant was busy, but if this was my first time, I wouldn’t be coming back again on the basis of last night’s dinner. The pudding menu has lost a few of the previous options – the 70% chocolate was always good. The sticky toffee pudding is on there, but it only comes with ice-cream and really needs custard. Overall, this isn’t a bad restaurant – the bar is great and the staff are always very engaging, with the service generally good. The food and particularly the food presentation standards and options do seem to have slipped a bit though – hopefully that is a temporary blip and that can be recovered. I wouldn’t recommend on the basis of this most recent meal though.
We both had fillet steak which was cooked and seasoned well. It was a mid week evening and there were 4 other tables seated whilst we were there. It was quiet, with no music. Staff were interactive and attentive, the male waiter liked to joke a lot. Whilst the steak tasted good, I'm not sure if the steak prices are justified by the brand name alone as I've had comparative steaks elsewhere for cheaper. The wine was very good quality.
Amazing service from the moment we arrived. Delicious and beautifully presented food, every bite was a taste explosion on your tongue.Food: 5/5
